Between a rock and a hard place.
Heard this on the radio today got a pretty good laugh out of it.
Extra brownie points to the person who guesses the network and context.

Wouldn't it be great if we all thought the same things and did the same things and believed the same things?

Well, shoot there have been some people that wanted that, yet they realized they couldn't just talk people into doing things their way so the legislated it.

They felt threatend by religion so they outlawed it.
They felt threatened by certain social and ethnic groups so they outlawed them.
They felt threatend by peoples desire toward self determination so they owtlawed it.

Well, if we all outgrew organized religion, we'd certainly have a lot fewer problems to deal with. Then we could get to work on outgrowing nationalism. But then I guess we'd be back to fighting over which end of a boiled egg is correct to open.
