Zero dish?

I am going to use a 2005 Giant DH Comp this season and the frame requires a wheel with zero dish (I am told). How difficult would it be to change my existing wheel? (24" Double Wide with Rocky Mountain hub).

I would think as long as the spokes have room in the nipple that it could be done.

Looking for your insight? Thanks.

well i dont know much about dish, but it was quite hard for the shop dude to do it...but u dont want to run 24" on a Giant DH comp i had 1 and it will ride better with a 26"(what its ment to have), i just think that cus its a DH race bike, 24"is for freeriding...

but other ppl may think diffrent

zero dish means dishless wheels, they are supposed to be stronger, but 135 dished wheels still work fine.

edit:the giant uses a 135mm.

2005 DH comp is a 135x12mm wheel. i use to own one

don't forget its also a 100mm bottom bracket

edit. a 24" wheel on the DH comp is a bad idea. the geometry will get messed up. and would not be fun to ride. also with a 26 up front and the 24 in the rear. your head angle may be around 63 degrees

Did you get different frames over in the states? The 05 comps here all had 150mm spacing, 04 was the last year they used 135mm. I'd get a new wheel built for it, then it will be dished properly and you won't have a 24" rim.

If it is a 135mm hub, the the rim needs a 11.5mm offset from the "normal" dish on any other bike. Giant did this by offseting the rear to the right hand side.

You can probably loosen the RH spokes and tighten the LH spokes and pull it over. That will depend on how your wheel was originally built.

I checked and it does have a 150 rear, so I may continue to sweet talk the guy into just selling me the wheel as well. The frame has the BB, seatpost included so I hope to have it going within the month. Thanks for the info guys.
