Debating trading this guy his Mountain Cycle Shockwave FRAME for my Banshee Scream FRAME. Hoping to find something a little more race-ish (obviously the Scream is not), but unsure about this new frame. Its definitely not the 9.5" new model, so, I'm thinking either a 2001 or a 2002.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Erin

The new Mountain Cycle ShockWave 9point5 is a great bike. That original ShockWave was a great bike in 1996. That one in the picture is not a 2002. The newer ones have mounts for the tripleclamp steer stop at the head tube / downtube junction.
Keep your Banshee. As far as trades, you can do better, keep looking.

Shockwave 9.5's are actually really nice bikes. That thing however is FUGLY> I'd keep the scream unless your getting a heap of cash as well......

Also be weary of internet "trades" ive heard of many going bad.

Would you be interested in trading for a 2002 Norco team dh?
It's got 6,7, or 8 inches in the back and a 12mm x 150 hadley thru axle. It's my buddy's bike. I know he likes Banshee screams.

About that MC shockWave, it's not a bad bike if you paint the whole thing flat black, ride it only down smooth downhills at night. As long as there is no full moon, then it's fine, but watch for trees.

I haver heard good things about them actually, granted it was from their pro rider but he was honest about them and sounded good. They are supposed to ride well too. But I have never rode one myself...that I can remember :D but I was hammered that nite in Idaho.....;)

That would be a decent trade. Providing it fits you......

I second that, the norco would be a better bike than that year mtn. cycle... (depending on the size, of course). If you're gonna trade, and both frames are in good shape, your frame for norco plus some $$$ would benifit both of you.

You always seem to miss one point or the other  He has the Banshee and wants to trade it for something more raceworthy.

Oh, and sorry, but I have always thought that that mountain cycle is just plain ugly! Ahhhh! My eyes, my eyes! :p :D

The Norco is size medium. It's only been ridden a few times. It would come with a rear wheel built on that hadley hub.

Um, this sounds like a way better deal than that ugly mtn. cycle.... (and the frame design on the mtn. cycle makes a lot of noise, too)

The 2004s have a new TT design that provides a real low standover. I'm not sure what the 2003s or 2002s are like.

Anywyas, feel free to email me about a possible trade.

thanks!

The Norco is a 2002 size med. I'm 5'-7" it fit me fine.
As far as the shockwave frame being loud, the Norco is just as loud if not louder. Both are monocoque designs.

I appreciate the offer, but no thanks.

2002 model is before Norco changed the geometry to what they're using now; its got a really, really high bottom bracket height and a steeper-than-usual head angle. Similar geometry to an AS-X.

Good luck,

Erin

Yeah. I forgot that the norco was a monocoque design too. Good luck, I'll keep my eyes open for a small DH frame.
