So how'd your race go?

It was my first race and...

I did ****ty. There's no way around it, I made mistakes before the race even started. I ran 6 (maybe even 7) full-bore practice runs as to 4 like everyone else, which wore me out the the point where I was on half empty by the time the race started. When it was time to make my first race run, I hadn't streched out enough or drank enough fluids. Ten feet out the starting gate my legs were cramping up (couldn't really straighten my legs at all) and my mouth was dusty and utterly dry. I managed a half decent speed all the way down to the last section in the woods and slid out in that dustyass rut thing.

Theeennn it all came down. My shoe came off AND my chain dropped. When I tried to put my shoe back on, the sole jammed up in the front so I had to ride with half a shoe on my foot AND I couldn't pedal in any of the last woods section. Finished the race and didn't bother listening for my result. (I was the kid cussing up a storm at the bottom) Took the lift back up and did my second run. No real problems except I slowed down so some guys could pass and and crashed again and got tangled in a tree. Got a 7:02, my friend AJ (zjchaser) slammed down a 6:30. It was his first race too.

So all in all, I learned a lot about racing and next time I'll do better. I couldn't race to my full potential, but there's always next time...

I saw you up there, and talked to you on one of the lift rides up during practice... I was in all red TL gear. I crashed 2 1/2 times on my first run, and pulled in a 6:20 something... pretty good considering I went OTB in that damn tree section, and had to chase my bike down the hill once I remembered where I was. I wasn't even mad that I crashed, or that I had basically lost the race due to it... I was just pissed that I messed up my D2 . My second run I didn't try much, my goals for the run were don't get passed, and don't crash... I crashed in the damn tree section again, but not as bad. I started hearing an unusual sound from my rear brake, and really started thinking about it when it stopped working... turns out I disinegrated (sp) one of my brake pads that I just put in LAST MONTH, and my piston was rubbing on the rotor until all of the fluid leaked out of the caliper. If anybody heard an incredibly loud, white M1 going down the run... that was me. I didn't pedal much, and pulled in a 6:30 something... came in 6th overall. Not bad for my first race, I guess, but it should have been better... much better.

I was taking pictures at the steep dusty part in the trees section where almost everyone fell. Id have to say it was great, people were walking down and eating it. some people missed the turn and ended up 15 ft. down in the trees. got some good pictures I will post them later on pink bike (user name: merrrrjig)

You were at the SoCalSixPack after party, weren't you? You should submit your pics to DirtFocus.com like you were saying.

ha..so you saw me attempting to get my chain back on and balance against a tree right in the middle of that slope, then fall right after wards..lol....at least I cleaned it second run. Did any spectators get taken out? I was expecting someone to get taken out by a rider crashing into them.

OMFG.... I got a 7:02 on BOTH my race runs... They're different by a couple milliseconds, but holy shat. I must've been hauling ass to get that time with my whole disaster thing on my first run.
