how posh can it be when they don't carry Hope brakes...
they just know better... :thumb: anyhoo, me thinks they can get whatever brand of brakes they want...especially hope, being in UK and all...

but seriously, these guys go all the way in terms of customising a bike... ano'd, gold or silver plated parts, they can do it... custom built super light air shocks for xc rigs... custom carbon linkage plates... limited edition superlight components (steinbach etc.), the list goes on and on.

There was this article on them in MBUK some time ago. If you've got the cash, they're the way to go I guess...

I'd be curious to know how long people wear those jeans for. .

Duh...
They wear them until they are no longer in style.
 :sneaky:

Me? I've only had about 4 pairs of jeans in the last 12 years.
And I never washed ANY of them. :blah:
Just kidding... I wash them whenever I spill food on them, which is quite often.
:nope:

I was looking for jeans a few weeks ago. went to my usual spots, AF and Express. amazingly expensive. i couldn't believe how much Express has gone up in prices since they were renamed. unreal. then i went to Lucky, since i had never been there. they were more than AF and Express, and i think the pants were sized for men and women (on the same pair of jeans). ended up at Gap and found jeans for $35 that fit great. fit is important to me, and i love how AF jeans fit. the Gaps fit on par with AF and were half the price. yea. after that, mandi and i went to Banana Republic to look around at **** we can't afford at the moment. they have sweeeeeeeeeeet coats for girls. personally, i love BR, Coach, Crate & Barrel...all those snooty stores. i just can't buy anything from there.

Wal-Mart can be just as bad as any of those snooty stores. it can be worse, too. nothing like 2yr old **** heads running around without parental supervision, and slobbering all over themselves.
TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or rip em off some homeless guy. ;)
If you get em off a homeless guy, you don't have to break them in.

I have a pair of Sevens that were $230. They are the best jeans I've ever owned!! You get what you pay for! If I had the money, I'd buy all designer clothes. You just can't beat the quality!!

like really expensive sweat shop produced jeans?

i dont see any difference in the durability of jeans. As far as fit goes thats a completely different story. I usually get Arizona brand jeans on sale. the ones i get have the fit i prefer and they last a long time as well.

as for spending all that money on jeans, i dont think its the wisest choice but whatever. I had a girlfriend that would go buy whatever name was in fashion, spend hundreds of dollars on it wear it or use 2 maybe 3 times. Then would be on to the next fashion. it annoyed me because i found it extremely superficial to me but as long as she wasnt using my money to do it, i dont care.

most of my jeans are 5 or 6yrs old. hell, i have some Arizona's from 7 and 8yrs ago, still. does Arizona have like a relaxed fit, or something similar? mom always tells me to get those, but all i ever see are classic fit, and i hate classic fit. Gap has a "low-rise boot cut" that is damn near the greatest fit ever (for me).

i remember when AF was selling their jeans pre-cut at the bottom of the legs. whoever bought those should be whipped, right after the people who cut the pants themselves. i found 1 pair of jeans at AF that weren't cut, frayed, or faded, and on sale. i was so happy. good fit, super heavy denim, but they shrunk a lot. so now they're wasting away in my closet.

Believe me, I don't have a closet full of designer jeans or other expensive fashions. I agree with you that most 'in style' items are a waste of money. But I can wear jeans to work, so I wanted a good quality pair I could wear for a long time. I'm all for spending the money if the item is something that I know I'll wear for some time.

That had to have been Diesel or Lucky...or were they Seven for all Mankind? I saw some sevens in Nordstrom the other day for 142 bucks, and some other brand...those were 246! I was like what in TARNATION!

The fact that I have never heard of "sevens" nor have I seen a pair of jeans with a 100 buck tag on them means that I read the right mags and stay out of the right stores! :)

for jeans i always get diesel, express, gap.... but i always wait for the sales and off seasons and get them for under 50, even 30 by the bulk. i only buy clothes 3 to 4 times a year.
dress pants, i get kenneth cole or i get them tailor made here in Peru for cheap and excellent quality.

they are really good. not a comparison point with wranglers.

am not the kind that goes not the kind that goes to the store to buy one or two, plus now that am in peru, i wait til whenever i travel to miami to buy clothes there.

yes you can. tailor made. nothing beats tailor made clothes, specially formal-casual suits stuff.

for 250 bucks, i remember there was a really good tailor in nyc. but you had to buy at least 6 shirts.

If durability was the real issue here we would all be wearing Carharts. And don't start some BS about how Carharts aren't that tough. I used to work in a MINE for cripes sakes!

Yup - I wore Wranlger's when I cowboyed and they were done in 6 - 8 months. I wear Levi's 550s now and they last few pairs have holes around the pocket in no time. I am looking for a change. Guess were expensive when I was a kid, but fit good. Now that I throw down on jeans myself, $40 is the absolute max.

I honestly can't believe that you posted that a benefit is the several different features benefit. Say that out loud and then ask yourself if Megan is gonna still love you.

He's lucky I am not the kind to go drop $170 on a pair of friggin jeans!!!!!!! I was astonished when I walked in a shop downtown to check out their clothes and saw at least 100 different pair that cost $150+. I am just not going to spend that much on a pair of pants. A bike part maybe, but pants??
Wow, weird, I just was out last night, and spent $170 on jeans! I got 2 pairs, but hey, I really liked the finish/cut on both of them, and they were on sale from $160/each. Energie and G-Star. I hate to be a jeans slut, but I blame my old roommate, he got my into it. Now my closet is filled with Diesel, Levi's Premium, Express, etc. I just really like the finishes and cuts, and I have the money to, so why not?
Though for the price, AE Outfitters has some great jeans most of the time, sometimes I just can't find that one pair I like though...
Still don't neglect my bikes though...:)
Weird timing on this post though Heidi...

If one were to buy a $150 derailleur when the same derailleur was available for $50 - yeah that would be kind if silly. Honestly I don't care though. These husband and wive struggle over the finances is nothing new and can be joked about light heartedly. What is the big deal?
lol i.e. which is why everything on my bike is from ebay. I always buy everything new but for a couple hundred bucks less... in my opinion, ebay compared to bike shops, if the item is new il go with ebay anyday, it is another story though sometimes with the used stuff.

Holy crap, I was just thinking about resurrecting this thread.

The other day my wife came with me to shop for jeans, and I ended up with a pair of $100 jeans. Out of the 15+ pairs I tried on at 6 different stores, these 1) were the most comfortable and 2) had the highest approval rating from the wife. They're Lucky brand.
I like my $100 jeans and I may go back and buy a second pair
