I need new work boots

i like Wolverines, you might want to take a gander at some hiking boots too for them wet days. Alot depends on what type of work you do.....

I can't remember the brand, but the model was called "Logger". Pretty inexpensive (~$80). Black, steel toe. I don't know about the shank. But I've been using my pair for about 3 summers and periodically during the year. I'd get an insole or something, but for the price, they're good...

Now if only I could remember the brand....

Yah you can get a quality pair of boots for around $100 easy... i got my Wolverines on sale for around $80 on sale at Sears. Just gotta shop around a little. Yah i don't know what the deal is with those Red Wings. I mean no boot is worth $250 unless it comes with a battery operated foot massager and remote controlled jet skates.

Been happy with my Magnums. Seem to be pretty popular with the cop crowd. They are the work boot line from Hi-tec.

When i was in industrial maintenance i tried every boot as i was on my feet 12 a day six days a week.The best boot i found was the Wolverine Dura-Shocks.Very very comfortable and last quite a while to.

I have be doing electrical work for 15 years and the most comfy boot I have found is Timberland brand. Try looking at DSW shoe warehouse on west broad next to Circuit City. You can also try Sears and Dicks sporting goods in the hiking boot section. One tip is to try on the boots after a day at work, your feet will swell a little during the day so you want to make sure that the boots fit then.

On a side note are you planning on racing at Masennutten? IF so see you then.

Timberland Titan Workboot

Best boots ever. I loved them. My new boots suck. Red Wings are nice but not worth the $$ unless you can write them off for taxes :thumb:

I agree with the Timberlands. Iron Age and Lehigh are bad for shoes either, but need insoles for me anyway, don't know if they make boots though.

I bought a pair of Wolverines back in 1989 for $250.00... very steep at the time but then they were still made in the USA and where constructed with individualized footbeds. I wore them 5 days a week working in the woods for over 5 years - in that time they went through 4 heels and a full resole. I still have them today and use them as my hiking boots because they are so comfortable. They are all leather with no padding around the ankles - easy to keep waterproof with boot grease.

I would like Steel Shank, but not a necessity.

I found a REALLY nice pair of Redwings today, but they were $250. I just dont know if its worth $250.........

i had to buy a pair for the summer, i just found a 50ish dollar pair (they were on sale) at dick's. i have no idea if they're any good.

Im suprised that you wore out your Cats that quick.. I used to work as a household waste removal engineer (okay....I was a garbage chucker) and walked everyday for 8 hours a day on uneven/wet/muddy ground and they are STILL going strong after ~5 years. Maybe I just got a good pair. I did cave in the toe a little on one of them with 3 times the weight that theyre rated for! :dead:

good ole safety factors....must be why theyre so heavy.

my dad is a welder and mechanic for a power plant, and I know he's been wearing redwings since he got the job 25 years ago. Sort of like an LBS though you need a good shop to buy your boots from.

i have had great success with wolverines and if you can find them somewhere, herman survivors. Herman survivors are some of the most comfortable, long lasting boots i have owned .. and they are usually at a great price. Otherwise i look for boots with a vibram sole. these are without a doubt the best, most comfortable souls on the market. Timberland used to use them , now they make their own ... thats why they went downhill so fast.

My Wolverwines lasted me about 8 years. The sole actually wore out but the leather was still good. I should have had them resoled, but just threw them away like a dumbass.
