Okay, well keep me in the loop. My gf and I are driving up late Thursday night (staying at Motel Bromont until Sunday). I'd be really happy if that rock slab drop thingy at the top was gone - that thing has always messed with my head.
the reason everyone was riding over near the old masters course all day was not because of some super secret inside info that the course was going to be there...
it was because the race course from previous years, and the #7 trail off of it were being crossed in a few spots by a XC race that was taking place until about three. why bromont closed the trails at the top when they did not interfere until the bottom is beyond me. lots of people were riding them anyway because of this, and just cuting out at the end to avoid the XC riders.
the "freeride", "bridge", or whatever you want to call it is lame as a race course. it is fun to ride, but it is slow, flat (except for a few chutes, and not technical at all.
the traditional race course RULES... it is fast in and out of the woods with a mix or rocky and bermed corners that flows down the fall line of the mountain. and each section flows into the next, unlike the "home depot trail" (which also ends 1/2 mile from the lift and requires a flat fire road to get back)

yeah, the rock fell out, and the drop is gone... but now you have no reason to slow down until the woods at the bottom, so in a way it is a bit more difficult. the trail is very off camber all of a sudden where the boulder fell out, and there are some slick rocks buried in it too (stuff you used to jump over). definetly easy to mess up there with the amount of speed you can carry.
i like it, the rock drop was kind of anti-climatic, and now there are a bunch of different line choices to get through there
Good. Everyone I spoke to talked about how hard it was to get into the drop. I never had trouble with that, it was my hands clamping down on the brakes centimeters before the lip.... damn sense.

Slow, lame trail, wooden bridges, not very technical, muddy as hell and a massive sprint to the finish line over flat terrain for 500m.
Yes, all this can be yours instead of one of the best race courses in north america.
Come on - are you serious?! This is ridiculous. I have to seriously reconsider the whole trip now... Thats a lot of money to race a crappy course in the rain.
