Hey all, I'm going to be in Harrisonburg for business the next two weeks (starting Tuesday). I hear that Mud Pond and Reddish Knob (I guess that is the name?) are both nice rides, any input?

I'm an intermediate rider, more aggressive XC than downhill really... Looking for something fun and a little challenging, but nothing I"m going to break my collarbone riding. Also if there are any good shops in the area, let me know and I"ll swing by for some local info. Thanks!

I'd suggest riding the last stage of the Tour de Burg, which is tomorrow. I think it's up Hankey, down Dowells, up the Confederage Breastworks on 250, down Road Hollow, then up Bridge Hollow and down Braley's. About 40 miles with about 5k' climbing. It's fully supported, and for $15 you get a dinner afterwards in town.

I did the last 3 stages, did anyone else make it out there? You missed a lot of fun and slummin.

SBC helped out a lot with finding trails and such. A friend of mine, Pete, took me to Mud Pond, which was a lot of fun and a decent climb. Next week when I'm out there, we're going to Reddish Knob and maybe Boyscout... Looking forward to it.

I hear you Matt. I have only ridden mud pond one time with BUCKET and I remember those waterbars. They were nice and the gravel/loose dirt, flat turns at high speed were sketchy in a good way also.

mud pond is fun. I, or someone, needs to sneak some lips on all those water bars on the decent... HMmm.

They definitely need shaping now; there has been heavy equipment up there rebuilding the waterbars. The new waterbars aren't quite bike friendly yet.
