I have a dj 2 on my azonic evo. It is an '03 with 5 inches. DO the travel extensions work well?

Z150's are really nice. YOu can find cheap ones used, ebay, mtbr...

I had a 6in dj2 on my 04 bighit comp, and it worked great till i went to Snowshoe...and now its at marzocchi. I blew the seals and bent the uppers (i mean come on...uppers shouldnt bend) I think they work great for lighter freeride and DJ stuff, but when you do DH with a lot of repetative, hard hits, they break...But on the bright side them breaking is getting me a great deal on a 66.

i would suggest something adjustable because then you can use the travel when your racing and your p2 wont be raked out during normal riding.

I have a 2004 p.2 and right now I have 2004 dirt jumper II the 6 inch version. It seems to work out ok but I would properly go with the Z1 freeride because the dirt jumper doesn’t seem to take multiple hit very smoothly.

I would suggest that you do not put on a fork with more than 125mm of travel because that is what the bike is designed for.
This is the way to go. I ride a P1 (the same frame) with a 110mm DJ3 and it feels perfect for jumping and 4x racing. A friend of mine had a 130mm DJ3 on his P2 for a while and it started to feel a little raked. I think if you put a 6" or 7" fork on a P2 it will feel like crap, won't steer well, and be way out of balance.

If you want to race DH, get a frame that can accomodate a DH fork. Besides, why would you get another bike for DJ/urban (as escapeartist said you would) if you have a P2 for exactly that?

another 2" of travel isnt going to compensate for sloppy riding, get your riding pinned with a 5" fork theres no need for anymore on a hardtail
metal raced hardtail catagory with a 5" fork (?) and kicked loads of ass.

I say a Z150 is the ticket....anything else would be overkill ...but that might be what you want...so install what you desire...a fox 36

My buddy loves his Fox 36 on his Specialized P3. You might find a used one in your price range.
