Shut up and ride...
Since it's so close for me to go, and sadly Snowshoe is so far away, I went today. Actually, I went there to get over the fear of riding since I did the rib thing.

First and foremost, kudos to Coob.......This guy is really trying to get some semblance of riding up there, and all by himself. He’s a really nice guy, willing to lend a hand. He’s doing the best he can to get many of the stuff the old crew had done to be groomed and safe again. So far so good. It’s just sad it’s by himself. Coob recognizes all the work done originally, and is very humble in his approach to the trails.

Damn dude, for one guy you sure did a sh*tload of work.... the designers would be proud. The new stuff was cool, and because it was coob's doing, not a half-a$$ed...blah blah blah, the added stunts were safe and well thought out. Old stunts were made safe again.

As far as management, I’ll leave that alone, it’s not my place.

I had a REAL rough start……..but towards the end of the day it was finally working for me. Truth be told, I wanted to go to WG before SS so I wouldn’t embarrass my self to bad in front of everyone.

I have found out that homesick is not to miss the place, but to miss the memory of the place. I had so much fun with all the guys when they were there.

Coob, my hats off to you for all the work you’ve done.

I look forward to meeting up with old friends again that I have truly come to miss dearly. Maybe with some luck, this weekend coming up, I can make it up there (SS) for a day or two. Good Lord willing!

Bottom line, I made a new friend, and missed my old ones.

Regards,

SK6

My buddy and I rode Wintergreen for the first time on Sunday the 7th, and we had a great time. The trails were basically empty and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Mainly we stayed in the Intermediate trails, and did a few expert ones when we felt up to it. Would have loved to try some of the more extreme trails, but I wasn't wearing the proper gear for that.

Run # 4 was very soft at the top, and while I made it through the 1st time, on my 2nd attempt I wasn't so lucky and almost became close, personal friends with a large tree. My riding partners slid out both times, and received a few cuts and rash marks that he will wear with pride.

Loved the double teeter totter and the rock/ramp, and I attempted the road gap jump, but didn't have the balls to land it on the back side, so I pulled up short.

No doubt I will be back before the end of the season. Thanks.

I was at Wintergreen as well, yesterday, Aug. 7th, and had a pretty good time.
I guess the trail I've liked best was Stoney Snake, just the right combo of fast-rough-steep-fun stuff. Plus, you get the two jumps at the bottom.
Also Tyro, a blue trail, was nice, tough slippery.
As for the "shore" stunts, I dunno, they looked and felt slippery as hell so I largely declined.
Not bad, after all. The only problem, in my opinion, is the 35$ lift ticket and the 3 hours of driving from NOVA.

Your best bet is to PM Coob....

awesome post SK6. i am glad to hear you are getting back on the horse again.

i remember a few years back when mrbigisbudgood organized the mid east monkey gathering and myself and the captain came up there we had a blast. there were lots of people having a good time and the trails were fun. it is a very long drive for me to get there (about 5.5 hours)but after hearing about hoe the place is seeing a comebeack it makes me want to go back up there.

coob, all i can say is you are very tough for sticking out the original ribbing you got when you started out on ridemonkey. your perseverance is paying off and everyone on this board certainly appreciates not only your work but having another lift accessed area to play with our big toys.
