Supergo

I'd ive spent about 75 bucks max there, and 50 of it was a gift cert. One purchace did involve a 2nd trip to get the correct part because i asked the shop employee what i needed, rather than looking myself.

If im in the area i will stop to browse. They do have a nice selection of built bikes you can sit on.

I think they are ok. They have some terrific bargains from time to time. Their prices on tires are pretty good, the LBS cant touch them. They also have as good a selection of bike shoes as you can find anywhere. The only thing I dont like is you really have to go in the store to find the bargains. They dont advertise much. Pretty soon they will be changing their name to Performance. In the past year they have had some disagreements with Giant and Specialized on pricing and I believe both of those brands will be dropped. Performance like a lot of bike companies is privately held but I am guessing they will go public sometime in the next year. (i am reading the tea leaves-lots of sales, dumping Giant, Specialized) That means you will be able to buy a piece of the action. Almost anyone can get poor customer service, if its really bad a business wont last I dont think Supergo is any worst than any place else.

I had new shock put on, the mechanic was cool but over worked and didn't do a very good job. I had to adjust a few things when I got home. Bought some parts and the guy I talked to knew his stufff. Go when it's slow and you'll get better service.

I think they are part of the Evil Empire... I only go there to (inflict) nominal abuse to thier test ride bikes... provided they are worthy of me dealing with the 'Walmart of Bicycles' experience... the only thing good about them are 2 things:

1) they usually have on-hand Iron Horse Dh and freeride bikes... (to test ride)
2) views of the ocasional biking goddess complete with string purse between her...

ps I think BeyondBikes suck... If I'm ever in SD I'm gonna throw a rock thru thier window...

i got the same vibe at Performance in Redmond. There are tons of other shops in the area that'll help you out, just don't shop there anymore. i don't.

Stay out of the bike supermarkets ie: Supergo & Performance.
Support your homegrown LBS.
Nuff said.

Supergo has 3 things going for it,
1 Screaming deals on a few items
2 Open til 8
3 Big selection on clothes & shoes
I do go there pretty often, and buy things there when they have stuff I need at a really good price.

More often, the stuff I need is not any cheaper at Supergo than anywhere else. A lot of their sales are only about 10% off. If I have to pay full list, or close to it, I just go to a local shop.

If it is a purchase that I need any kind of advice about, I go to the LBS and pay what they charge. And I try not to waste their time BS'ing.

I support the cool bike shops as much as I can, but I don't think I could stay in the sport if I had to pay full list for everything.

super go sucks they chargered me for a part the forgot to put on. i got the bike for cheap but i never will buy from them again. stick w/ your local shop

I'm not fond of the main stream bike stores......Too corporate. I understand they need to be that way, but I prefer to shop at the little LBS who's employees go and ride the local trails, spend time talking with their customers about the trails, and go that extra mile to make their customers happy. My favorite LBS here in Phoenix is Cactus Bikes. Awesome store, down home atmosphere, and they go out of their way to make sure your a happy camper. Yeah we have a Supergo here too, but I just go there to look at the new bikes.

Anybody been in the Seattle Supergo in the past day or so? I am guessing they are dumping their Specialized stuff. Their website says Specialized is on sale. Also last year over Labor Day weekend they discounted their Cannondale bikes in stock 30% plus on Labor Day weekend their was no sales tax on bike purchases. I am kind of interested in seeing what they are going to do with Giant.

screw walmart aka supergo i go to tim's bike shop in everett cause they give me awesome deals and great service, but this also might be because im in there a lot but they are pretty cool people go and check em out there on broadway in everett

I don't ride bikes.

I treat Supergo the same way I treat REI. If I know what I want and want a good deal, I'll go there. If I want advice from someone who knows what they're talking about and who are passionate about riding, I'll avoid them like the plague. I've had a couple friends who were long time bike riders (one of whom until recently was the promotions director at one of the "big 3" bike companies) get jobs at REI and got stuck in the shoe department. What's wrong with this picture? Anyhoo, the only person I talk to at Supergo is the guy ringing me up and even then, it's only polite banter and perhaps a thank you.

I found supergo to be just ok. They are a big shop - so you can get shop time fairly easy. Supergo isn't likely to do a freebie repair like the lbs might - and the set costs seem to be spendy. Even though I'm a volvo driving yuppie, the supergo experien$e was enough for me to buy that set of tools and spend an afternoon fixing my own bike...I haven't been back for a long time [ever since Supergo warrantied my sram 1:1 with a lower grade sram 2:1 shifter. Oops!] That said, the Cove screwed up my bike, OnTop screwed up my bike...Steeds screwed up a repair...so I don't know if the LBS is any better or worse...is that vague enough?

I'm down with Tim's. Chris can work wonders with factory wheels, they never ripped me off when I brought my net-ordered parts in and paid them to put them on for me, and they have a bunch of cool bikes in there. I was just telling my wife last weekend that if I need work done that I can't do myself (not much of that, these days) I'm taking the drive up to Tim's because at least I can trust them. Unlike a shop, which will remain unnamed, closer to me from which I bought a Kona Smoke for commuting this spring. Said shop touts free maintanence, and while I would normally do work like this myself, I brought the Smoke back to them when I developed a loud, ugly tick in the BB because I don't have a square-taper BB tool anymore. So I leave it with them for a week, they call me and tell me it's done, I get home and ride it to work once and they haven't even touched the problem I asked them to fix! They "tuned it up," which it didn't need and seems to have consisted mostly of un-toeing my pads so that they squeal like a scorched monkey, but never pulled the BB or addressed the problem I brought it to them for. The funny thing is, I'm in the market for a new downhill/freeride bike this year and I happen to be looking at expensive Konas and Specialized rigs. This shop carries both of those brands, but what are they going to do for me when I need help with a $3000 machine if they can't address a simple problem on a $350 beater? Oi, I miss being 15 miles from Tim's. If I choose the Stinky D, you know where I'll be ordering it (even though it's nearly two hours from me and shop X is ten minutes up the hill from here) .

I work at performance (we own supergo) at at our colorado locations we help any body I do not know how they are running stuff up there but it sounds like you need to make a complaint to corporate. One good thing about corporate shops is that you do not have to complaine to the rude people directly... you complaine to their boss.

I got off topic there, Supergo's alright, and I've bought two bikes from the Redmond Perf in the last two years. Great prices on the slash and burn clearances. You just have to know what to expect: fair to poor service, and check the build before you ride it. Supergo has some great deals on clothes when they are on clearance. If I was looking for another Iron Horse, I'd go Perf again.

Yeah, it's hard to get decent service at Super Go. The Santa Monica store is full of Barnies...all of the employees don't know the first thing about anything, other than road bikes.

I bought a full face from supergo a while back. They were blowing out Mad Max II's and I couldn't turn the price down.

Anyways, a few weeks back I was hanging out in The Downhillzone and they had a brand new Giant DH Team in the shop that somenoe bought from Supergo and brought to DHZ to get tuned up. The kicker being that the bike was mismarked and the dude got it for $2400. I ran over to Supergo to see if they had another mismarked...nope...it's twin was 5060, damn!

I was looking for a clamp on V-Brake lever there once and told the guy that it needed to be large enough to clamp onto a pair of old Mavic bullhorn style bars (this was for my commuter), the guy asked me what kind of bike it was and I told him that it was a Surly Cross Check. He said that the lever I was holding would work because the box said "great for Cyclocross". I tried to explain to him that brake levers go on the handlebars and not the frame but he didn't seem to get it.

I'm a mechanic and with the info you provided,.. I'm not sure I get it either: You want to put a v-brake lever on your frame? I'd have to say that in most cases I've found the lack of useful info/understanding to be on the customers side. But what do I know from years of greasy hands and catalogue memorization? You probly forgot to tell him what kind of handlebars you were running/clampsize.

I've worked in four of the Seattle area LBS and found that when I wasn't privy to employee discounts in between shops supergo was an alright price break with ACTUAL STOCK on hand.

As for SuperGhetto: The one time I spent a considerable amount of money I recieved a "hello" and help right away. I mentioned this to the employee that in the ten times I've visited the shop that was the first time anybody bothered helping me, and gave him a hearty THANK YOU.

LBS should try stocking tires, wheels, and shoes (among basics:brakesets,cranks,drivetrain,... etc) if they want to go toe to toe with "walmartbikes". Maybe it's my luck, but if I hear "we can order that for you" one more time... ugh. If I wanted to have something ordered I'd use this nifty internet thingy and have it shipped myself FASTER than dealing with LBS BS. It's "hard" for the smaller bike shops to beef-up thier inventory, but nothing says "don't shop here" like not having what the customer is looking for.

Lucky13: Read my first sentence and then ask me again if I forgot to tell him what kind of bars I'm running, then read my last sentence and ask me again where I wanted to put my lever.
I've been around enough bike shops and known enough mechanics to know that there is such a thing as a stupid question and I don't think the stpidity was on my end.
BTW: Where does Gregg's fit into all this? I know they're local and you can see Stan out at the velodrome almost weekly but I see just as many Volvo driving yuppies in there as Supergo. Plus, some of their sales staff is almost as clueless.

If that's true they close that location when the lease is up. Remember back in like 95' Right across the street was a Performance bike shop that Corp closed due to flat sales.
