That Triton is dead sexy! When are we going for some runs Adrian?....

Post up a pic of Brian's Cro-Mo Triton too if you have one.

Adrian,
The new Triton looks great!!! I must admit, I still have a bit of a craving for one of the cro-mo hardtails... Clean simple looks with real good geometry.... I know Kemper is still rolling around on his....

No way.... Boxing the dropouts in would ruin the whole old school, rat rod feel of the car... I mean bike...

That's it, you're fired! :D

Does anyone know about the rest of the cortina range, or even if there are more bikes in the range?

go to go-ride for their old full range they still make all those bikes. Cortina is pretty much just focusing on the Triton right now. Also, the DHE 8 is getting a revamping for 06 and there is a new aluminum hardtail in that I've seen in their shop which uses the same 1.5 headtube, and toptube and downtube as the triton. It looks pretty sick.

Is the DHE8 still part of the lineup for 06? :thumb:

in the spirit of friendly e-discussion, just curious....will you be integrating some sort of floating disc brake option into the design at all?

also, there's a reason foes and cannodale etc. put the scissor linkage up high---i.e. putting it farther away from the swingarm main pivot means that the lateral stiffening effect of the scissor link will be maximized. so i'm curious why you put it relatively close to the main pivot.

thx.

hmm, i think i answered my own question on the scissor link. you were more interested in adding rigidity along the chainstay axis rather than the seat tube axis, i guess.

i.e. focussed on rigidity under pedalling loads rather than rigidity during off-camber landings or rocky corners.

yeah thats what i thought, not to mention the upside-down links (new CDale, ASX) can give some nice shock rates

i already ordered mine. making deals with the cortina family is the best... they treat you as a friend not as a number like many other fooking bike company

Any more news? website hasn't changed since last september
Adrian is working on a Freeride Triton with 7" that is front der. compatible. He's also making a new hardtail called the WMD that is sick. It has similar geo to the MOB and is made from Reynolds 853 cro-mo.

Cortina is a small company that pretty much makes bikes on a per-order basis. The only way you will see "new" stuff from them is if you order something. Adrian is running the whole company at the time being so the website is lacking as his focus in on new designs and fabricating frames. Cortina is also working on some awesome shock tuning services. I have ridden both forks and rear shocks tuned by Cortina and they feel incredible. Most of the faster local riders have Adrian tune their suspension.

Well that's the joy of being local, If I have a problem with my bike I can just call them, ask about a part/piece, and go pick it up. Plus the family is great (Dan, Adrian, Raul) and they do have that "family" feel to talking about bikes and such. I think that any company where you can go into the production plant (aka the garage) and talk with the builder/deisgner and especially someone who's been doing it as long as the Cortina's here in town they'll do their best to help you out. Very excellent operation as far as that goes!

As an owner of a Cortina (Joyride, I don't think they make it anymore) the build quality is excellent. Welds are super clean, fit is good for sorta all-mtn stuff. It only has 4" of rear travel but back in 2002 that was considered FR travel :), but I've never had much of any issue with it. No cracks or welding problems that's for sure. I've replaced a pivot bolt and I think 1 bearing and that's it. The bike's been really solid for my use. It was my first "real" mtn. bike and it's still for the most part just how I bought it. Good stuff!

The new one's look sick as well. I'm glad to see it go from steel to all alum. frame construction. I imagine that helps alot out with the weight of the bike. If I remember correctly the Trition's were steel front end, alum. rear end? Either way it works!

I'm glad to see their name back up in there. They have always been a low producing company but how many builders still build out of their back yard as their "production plant"? Not many I'm guessing. They've lasted over the years with the amount of frames they produce when other's either failed OR had to move up into a larger building because they grew so fast (like Intense/Santa Cruz). So being in the game without seeing the "going out of bussiness" post is a test that they are able to keep being innovative and competitive with the other bike builders out there.

I have one of the aluminium hardtail ds bikes. The frame is great, nice welds and the alignment for everything was spot on, brake tabs, etc.
The new dh bike looks great, looks like it would build up to make a pretty light race frame. Do you have an aprox weight on the frame?

The frame is not ridiculously light or anything, a complete with a reasonable build is 40-42 lbs.

You can have whatever head angle you like, that's the beauty of a custom frame. :)

As far as the 7" Triton there is one out there already and Adrian has pictures he can maybe post. It is white with a white Travis

I don't know if you have ever owned one of our frames but they don't have mcuh fex. And if you have not ridden or owned our bike that is a pretty bold opinion to post. Also just so you know the Triton DH is made with EASTON butted 6061 aluminum and is very strong and pleanty stiff with the aid of the swing link behind the BB. So get your facts straight before writing a worthless post like the one you just posted, and don't bother starting a reply with "my friend had or thinks a cortina is......" because those are just as worthless and tend to get twisted into something that doesn't need to be said, and if they are unhappy or have a problem they can talk to me. Think before you type!

Thank you.
cheers! i'll drink to that. I own (well untill i rode it into the ground) a Europa fs that i raced mountaincross/dual slalom with for 4 seasons. i loved it. the frame was badass.....and after four years of serious racing on it, sadly it finally cracked around the shock/seatmast mount. i more than got my money's worth out of that bike. I'm not sure whats up with cortina these days, but shame on you for knocking a family run company that produces high quality frames.
