I got the DHX air mounted and it's such a huge improvement over the 5th Elephant, err I mean Element.
The bike still pedals great but it's much more active than before in the rough stuff. Fox decided to removed the Boost valve schrader valve for frame clearance issues when using the steep geometry shock shuttle with the boost valve volume backed all the way out. Since I will never use the steep geo shuttle nor will I run the boost valve all the way out I am going to see if I can have a shrader valve installed so I can tune the boost valve more accurately like a standard DHX shock. Other than that one minor issue I am fully pleased.
I will report back soon with more impressions.

So are those kits now available? Thats a bit annoying about the boost valve. Wonder if when you get it tuned up for the normal maintainence you can send it to push or fox to have the valve installed...punkassean said:pics here:

The kits became available on the 1st of this month. The shock comes with no rear DU bushing installed and then it has a slightly narrower set of conical washers because the 5th shock has a narrower eyelet width than the DHX. The front mount on the DHX is not a spherical bearing like it is on the 5th, it is just a standard DU and spacers. The spacers are however machined down to almost nothing to shave a few extra grams.
I am sure an air valve can be retrofitted no problem. I am not sure though that it will be covered under warranty. I wouldn't think it'd be hard to get around that though.

I can tell you that it has held up to a lot of abuse under my size. I have hit as big as an 8 footer with it and have jumped it repeatedly. The only problem so far is a blown spoke. As you can see, I am no small guy. It has held up on everything Michigan can throw at it, and even Mohican as well.
