If you want the pimpist bike on the block you can get a 66 with a travel reduction kit from Nemesis Project. If money is an issue then a DJ1,2,3, a pike, a fox vanilla, or Manipoo Gold Label, are all appropriate. Both marz and Fox have great CS.

both a gold label and any of the dj series are good. i think that if your a super smooth rider that a gold label would be good, but if you are like most of us and are trying to get to the super smooth level, or if you trying alot of new tricks, go for the DJ. if you go for a dj i would go for a 2006 because they are a pound lighter then the 04-05 series with the steel stantchins.

Ah NO , the axle to crown on a 90mm 66vf2 is 490mm
my z-1 street set at 65mm is 475mm

You do the math Kadvang !
The 66 has a lower axle to crown than a Z-1

what about a fox 05 vanilla rlc? Pricepoint has them for $339. and they can be reduced to 100mm internally and come with 3 sets of springs soft, med(installed) and firm

Just recieved my 05Van RLC from price point. Just to let you guys know it does NOT come with the extra springs, mine did not even come with the manual. I called them to question this because it does not say anywhere in their add that the extra springs are not included. They are sending me the manual, yeah big deal but I am a$$ed out on the springs. I think the heavy spring is about $25 so it is still a good deal but very disapointing.

I's have to agree with tmoney, the Pike is the way to go. I've tried just about every Marz and I've ran the Manitou Jumper and the Pike has been the best. I broke every marz I owned, and then Manitou Jumper was too plush (with the stiffest springs.) If you get a pike make sure you either get an 06 or an 05 with the new arch (not waffled all the way to the lowers), the old design snapped.

yup, RockShox will replace a broken no questions asked. . .but all the new ones have the new arch, so breakage is not a worry. I personally run mine on lockout all the time except when I ride trails, it feels a bit weird on jumps and street at first, but then you learn to pump the trannies of jumps, which helps you to flow jumps better because you don't lose your speed due to suspension dive. Also with urban, when the fork is locked out, it's soo much easier to do nose stalls and/or nose wheelies. Ride on!

Why dont you just go buy a ridgid fork ?
What's the pont of running your pike locked out all the time and breaking it if your not really useing the travel ???

I havent seen any of the newer zokes break , it was all the older cheep Tiawan made DJ3 and dirt jam forks that were cracking .

My Z-1 that I have on my bike now has 65mm of travel , with our travel reduction kit it bumps the damping curve up , this mated with about 15psi in the air assist makes the perfect urban and DJ fork
it feels ridgid but will move when it has to to take the edge off.

Nosewheelies and Canadian picks arnt a problem either as the fork stays stiff for these tricks .

Well I don't have a rigid fork for the simple reason that I like the best of both worlds. I can have a burly fork with a 20 mm axle that can be locked out to DJ and jib on, I can unlock it and leave it at full open for when I decide to go up to the trails, and whlen I decide that I don't want to jump with a locked out fork, I can open the compression and adjust it for whatever stiffness I feel like. So rather than owning a rigid fork and a suspension fork, I can just use one. Also I haven't seen many rigid forks with a thru axle. Also jumping on the Pike locked out is not what caused the 4 different ones to break (like Mack mentioned) it was that orginal arch design was weak and needed to be beefed up.

Also, I am not saying that ALL marz forks break, only all the models that I have owned, so I personally am a bit biased against them. I've heard nothing but good about the new 06 line of forks.

OK that makes sense ... I can respect that !

I liked the feel of the PIKE when I tried your bike last year at Spring Thaw .( I think it was your hardtail I tried .. norco or was it a Rocky? )

The new 06" Zoke stuff is sooo sweet though , I could never switch to anything else .

I beat the piss out of my proto Z-1 street and it keeps taking it.
Even learing high speed canadian pick into really plants on a big metal sculpture last night at Stanford

Hmm I dunno if it was my bike you rode at the Thaw. At that time I had a p.3 with a Sherman Jumper. . .I think. My buddy Josh has a Norco tho, and a different Josh has a Rocky, and both have pikes. . .so perhaps that was it. Dunno tho. Are you coming down this spring?

also, lock out doesnt make the fork completely rigid. it just makes it very stiff, but it still has some give to it for big hits
