Let's say a Marzocchi 888rc, where would you buy it?

Just wondering where people like to shop, especially for high end components. There is a slight possibility I may be able to buy one new, with all the trimmings....

Pretty much anyone will pricematch. That said - the guys at go-ride have been helpful with questions, but I just haven't bought anything from them yet. If you are looking at an 05, get a performance coupon and hit this. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=21768&subcategory_ID=5231#

I know people hate them, but it's already $700 and if you find a 10% or 20% coupon, well, you already did the math. I have had success buying forks from them.

I use these two sites to see if there are any deals out there.
http://www.comparisonpricing.com/
http://www.bestwebbuys.com/bikes/

Mostly I buy from my LBS because the prices are as good as anything I can get online, but in the past I've used

Cambria - Good overall service and prompt shipping
Pricepoint - Same
Jenson - Same
Wheel World - I ordered some wheels for a trip I was going on. They didn't show up when I expected so I called. They apologized that the wheels hadn't been shipped and sent them Next Day for no additional cost. :thumb:
Blue Sky Cycling - They say the item is in stock, even when it's not. I ordered something with 2-day air and received it a month later because it was back ordered. The website said In Stock the whole time. :mumble:

All of the online retailers people have mentioned are great, but go to your local shop and see what sort of deal they can give you. I go to the local shop a lot of times with some Internet prices in my head and then ask the local guys what they can get it for. If it's close - I go with the local shop. Just a thought.

This is certainly a very valid thought as well.

BTW, we'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow...

Enjoy.

Looks like the weather will be pretty nice, a little windy, but nice.

Stop by SBC while you are in the area and see what kind of deal they can give you on a 888.

If its a 888RC, I would buy used. You see them floating around for $500 these days, now that the new 06 is out. Heck, why get an 05, when you can get a 04 888r (the same thing) for around $380 used.

I buy new from UniversalCycles. They pricematch everything (just like everybody else), however their customer service guys really know what they are talking about.

Jenson is good, cause they usually offer the best pricebreaks, along with supergo....or whatever they are called now.

:stupid: I found a 10% off coupon in 2 minutes of searching, brought my total to $696 for a 888RC shipped to my door (I have to pay CA sales tax) and that's all included.

That's one hell of a deal, now only if I found a 20% off one :)

I think he is talking about EP at a shop, but that's just me being practical.

*I forget that Performance has to charge some peeps sales tax. That doesn't get me, so I don't think about it.

I have purchased a couple of decent forks from Pricepoint (Jr T and a Rock Shox for my wife's XC rig), and thousands of dollars of other gear over the years. No problems yet.

Alright I'm spamming...
I'm selling my '06 Marzocchi 888RC2x, with stock flat crowns, and bolt on stem. PM me or email, IM me if you're interested. It's got less than 5 rides on it.

So I looked for like 10 mins on the performance site and didn't find anything. Did you find the coupon on their site or somewhere else?

Where do I find these mythical coupons?:help:

The hopes are kind of interesting....

My problem is that I have a budget, and it is stretched...so I have to fins the best deal I can (LOL!!! Like everyone else!)

I can't find the site, but there was one that if you bought from them they would spring it for the rider......can anyone remind me which site that was?

The whole brake issue is simply due to the fact that the Hayes HFX 9's, while a good beginner hydro brake, have really become a pain in the ass to deal with, with the levers sticking, I can never get them adjust right and just garbage levers from the word go.

Thanks in advanced.

Go-ride will do that for you.

As far as brakes........I've never ridden a set of hopes that impressed me.

I'd go avid or shimano. Maybe even some of the higher end maguras.
