I payed off my credit card today, wanst much like $300 ish ( $500 limit atm). About a hour later after paying it I tried to purchase some PC parts on newegg.com for about $420. Recevied a email saying that they were processing my order ( thinking everything was all good ).

Later on in the evening I recevied a email from newegg.com saying that newegg.com " has failed payment authorization" . Basically what I am asking is, should have that been enough time between paying off my credit card and ordering stuff on newegg.com?

Dude, your card payment can take as much as 5 days to go through, but AT LEAST 24 hours - especially if you made it after 3pm when banks start to shut that jazz down for the day.

My credit card is through my bank though, was issued it through them, and I pay through them. Now that I think about it. My sister works there. I can just ask her. damn I am stupid sometimes.

Your credit card is not backed by your bank, they are simply the issuer.

Basically it all goes through a clearing house and they play the float because a.) balances are usually updated once a day and b.) they can.

Assume that when you give them your moeny that they will wait as long as possible before crediting you.

Well it turns out that the bank was having sometype of server problems or some ish like that. I talked to the main branch manager and she said that once someone pays off, about 5 mins later there balance changes.

Yeah, its nice having the main branch right neer the house. And the fact that my sister works there is also a added bonus, annnddd the fact tath she is good freinds with the branch manager is just iceing on the cake.
