Yeah, its not a DH bike, but I thought you might like to see the project trailbike for Dropmachine that we are working on. To be blunt, its goddam hot as ****.
The wheels still aren't the ones that are gonna stay on there, but they are damn nice. INdustry Nines on Black 721s.
Took the bike for a peel today, it was very interesting. The bike motors really, just cranks forward really well. I dind't notice much flex in it, it seemed very solid.
The fork is going to take some serious dialing. Its new, so it feels sticky of course. The spring rate is odd, it ramps up very fast, and very suddenly. I am gonna play with it, and see what I can figure out.
The X.0 rear feels as good as you'd expect. Its fast, and light.
I really dig the RaceFace stuff. The rings shift well, and its all damn light. The bars have a low rise, which took me a bit to get used to. They are nice and wide at 27 inches though, so thats nice. As a bigger guy, i prefer wide bars. The stem is nice and solid (only 70mm though, so what do you expect) and the cranks spin beautifully, with silk bearings right out of the box.
I am having trouble getting the DRS set up, as the roller is too far inboard and is causing much drag. I will get that sorted asap though, i am sure.
Its definately not a plush rear end. Its enough to take the hurt off for sure, but the 5 inches is hardly a couch. The air springs ramp up doesn't help this, but its also what helps it accelerate so fast.
I am kind of annoyed with how tall the toptube is. Its fairly obvious that Commencal could have made the TT hit the seattube much lower, without compromising the shock mount. As it is, i can barely stand over it.
I'll keep you posted after the next ride.
Here are some pics.
