So I just moved out to CO Springs from NY about a month ago, and I'm totally loving it. I finally got my hardtail up and running today, and the dh bike is soon to be shipped (I hope). I really don't know too much about the area, and was hoping to get a little guidance on where to ride. I'm looking for some mellow DJs for now, and when I get the DH bike out some good freeride areas or DH runs. Thanks for the help!

Stop into performance on Austin Bluffs and Academy. We have about 6 or 7 guys in there who ride/race downhill and do plenty of dirtjumping. We have plenty to offer in both departments here in the springs. I can guarentee that you will get more of both types of riding down here than anywhere else on the front range too. My name's brendon, and you can probably talk to keaton, jose, jordan or a couple others about dh/dj info. Glad to have ya and look forward to meeting you!

Brendon, thanks for the info! Performance is a little bit closer to me than Full Tilt, so I'll definitely swing by as soon as I can. My name is Mark, hope to meet you guys soon. Are there any group rides you guys run once I get my bike out here?

Chris,
Well as far as rides go... the only bike I have right now is my hardtail. I'm still working on getting a DH bike but honestly, I don't know if that's gonna happen this summer at all. I'll explain that later though. But we definitely should do some djing now that the weather is getting good.

Oh and mark, we'll probably get some group rides going eventually but things have been kinda chill lately. Full tilt guys have probably been a little more active lately than us at performance. Plus their shop is SICK!!! So it's worth checking in with them regardless.

Flow:

Welcome to Colorado, or Gods' Country as we like to call it. During the summers I live up in Green Mtn Falls (up towards Wookland Park) and will always be looking for riding partners if you are interested...I'm not a DHer, as of yet, but will be hitting the trails often.

Drop a note when you can....

Also, check out www.teamtelecycle.com, they have some pretty good trail maps for the area...

Actually I had a talk with God when I moved here and he agreed to move permanantly to Utah and leave CO to us pagans. :D
Unfortunately, COS is the worst when it comes to radical christian groups. Not all of them moved to Utah.

Thanks for all of the advice guys, sorry about the slow response. I finally got my VPfree out here and built up, and today I took it to Palmer Park for the first time. That place rocks! Seems like a little bit of everything. I got lost a few times but overall it was a blast. I parked at #15, did Kinniwick a few times, then Cheyenne. Anyone have suggestions for fun alternate routes?

I can, but it doesn't particularly care for it. I'm willing to give any route a shot at least once even if there is a good amount of climbing involved.

hmmm.... the best downhills in this state are accessed by climbing. if you can do 2k of vertical, I'll show you some class A stuff (for here).
