So who uses an enviroment killing vehicle to haul their bikes? Post in here :)

I see that most bikers drive "enviromentally friendly" vehicles but every once in a while i see bikers driving a car that makes hippes wake up screaming in the middle of the night. To haul my bike i either drive my f150 (lift kit, some engine mods, no catalytic converter, etc) or my mr2 turbo (around 400rwhp, open exhaust, dumps tons of fuel, etc...). I feel like i am part of a very small minority so i thought i would see how many other bikers drive "enviroment killers".

Most of us aren't redneck pricks like yourself, but at the same time, most of us realize the usefulness a pickup truck/SUV has for hauling bikes around.


Go troll somewhere else.

ouch did i touch a soft spot? do you drive a echo or something? I guess with me being a redneck im too busy screwing my cousin to think about your feelings. I also guess being so intelligent allows you to make random assumptions about people. Im just commenting on what vehicles i see most bikers ride.

I drive a pathfinder, I didnt know it was a environment killer though.

Wow we are all taking ourselves way too seriously. You guys need to chill and learn to take a joke. He drives a lifted F-150!

Yes, I use an environment killing vehicle to transport them bikes. You can see pics in the thread linked to earlier.

But since I personally don't own any 4 wheeled vehicle, this is what tends to happen a lot:

5 minutes down, 40 more to go.

I drive a '69 Chevy C10 SWB with a 350 that gets about 12 mpg or so for bike hauling.

That said, I ride the train to work and ride my road bike the 12 miles to the train 2-3 days a week (I take the bus the other days). So I put about 150 miles on my truck a month max.

I love my truck, but my next truck will be a Dodge Ram 2500 running Bio.

no car is clean. nor is anything about the society that has formed after the industrial revolution.

your bike itself is an environmental killer.

do you have rubber tires?
what do you do with them when you wear them out?

is your bike painted or powdercoated?

what process was used to create the metals for your frame?

grips,lube,housings,chains,old water bottles and camelback bladders,
old x-c helmets.

we can nit-pick this as far down to the pesticide runoff from growing the produce you eat to fuel your body to ride your bike.

we destroy our planet a little every day.
not much we can do about it.

Agreed. There's no such thing as an environmentally friendly car. The idea that you're somehow better on the environment because you get 40mpg instead of 20 (especially when you bought a new car to help the earth) is bs.

I'm sick of the small minded people who contribute to SMUG by claiming they drive "environmentally friendly" . My wife and I share an F-150 (5.4L Triton) with a towing package which we use to tow a 6000# travel trailer to events and camping. We drive rough fire roads to many trail heads and camping spots. A subi WRX or honda CRV isn't going to cut it. By not having a second vehicle reduce our "footprint" on the environment in all sorts of ways.

I offset the not so good gas mileage by bike commuting two day a week, and usually riding the bus one, so my effective commuting gas mileage is better than most. On the days I drive to work there is a good chance I'm giving a co-worker a ride home, so I'm carpooling part of the time too.

Its called a bucket wheel excavator. Its widely used in Germany for coal mining due to there very sorft and hardly rocky soil. Its a big ass machine, with the boom that attaches the wheel in front, the midsection of the machine, and the rear boom, it can easily reach 3+ football fields.

Btw, its nice being back to ridemonkey from such a long break.

that's great. however, for everyone of you, there's probably a 100 who use their behemoth as a daily driver and have no towing / 4WD capacity requirements for any of their driving needs.

And to the original poster, the MR2 sounds tasty........except the gas leak issue.

Last time I checked, D8s worked way better for making roads than a Western Star. :think:

Agree. The trucks we used were un-fit for highway travel anyways. No point in wrecking a nice truck in the bush...

Wow - I have never heard anyone else call a Western Star a nice truck. Cool. :thumb:

I use my Subie that gets ~28mpg, but when we get a half inch or so of snow ;), I've got to pull out the big guns and use my...



It's also fun in the woods when someone wrecks the trails. I drive over and wreck their trucks..

Life is to short for an underpowered truck! 496 cubic inchs gets it done for me.
Mainly I use it for pulling the race boat but the wife drives it 4 miles to the train station every day.

My 40 is not much better than your 20. However, my extra 20 miles to the gallon, multiplied by the driving population of the US, makes a big difference. Not to throw out a HUGE generalization, but you folks in the 15-20 mpg trucks tend to be a bit conservative; think of the gas savings as a security issue if you don't care about (or for) the environment.

Oh yeah, and if your truck is getting 20 mpg, it isn't THAT old, so gimme a break on the "new car" argument. Also, how many folks do you know bragging about their F350 hitting 250,000 miles?
