alright fellas---here's the deal, i'm in miami right now as a transplant from NY, and i'm deathly sick of the ****y terrain they have here since there absolutely no hills and what jumps they have lose the coolness factor after 1 pass.

so i'm brainstorming to myself about where i should head to next for a new job, and of course the thing i'm thinking is this: "well, i can work anywhere. now, where do i really want to ride?"

i'm hooked on dh, but i'm also big into freeride and some urban...
all that being said, i need some advice about where the good places to ride are. curently i'm looking at:
1) north california (san jose/santa cruz area
2) south california (carlsbad/san diego)
3) phoenix, scottsdale arizona
4) north carolina/south carolina
5) and of course NY (but i know the riding there is awesome)

anyone here have some experiences dh/freeriding around these parts?
i'd really appreciate some feedback, and hopefully some useful advice

Northern Cal and the NW offer awesome riding. I would move to Vancouver BC in a heartbeat, all the riding you could want is within 30 minutes. That and Whistler is just another shot down the freeway.

I dont have much experience with the neck of the woods, you are looking at in your list, however the Seattle area has some epic riding, with many secret areas built up with north shore stunts. Speaking of north shore, its only 2 hours north, and Whistler about another 1.5 hours from there. And it really doesnt rain as much as they say. I am heavily into DH/FR and find this area great for that specific activity.

Man it don't get any better than the Pacific Northwest.
I live in Washington and can't think of ANY place I'd rather be.

I got great riding all around me ,no matter what you like to do we got it. I can ride the wheeled bikes year round, with awesome dh shuttle runs 15 min. away plus we have awesome winter ski'ing and of coarse SKI-BIKING. I am and hour and a half away from post canyon and falls city, and I can drive to Whistler and the North Shore......

I don't know what else to tell you man but.

THIS PLACE ROCKS

SoCal. I'm not a fan of NorCal riding. In SC it feels like you're just riding on pine needles, where as Socal is loose, rocky, and exposed.

Washington, Bend Oregon, Pac NW is the way to go. I wish I was there... alot. Salt lake city Utah is really cool to. The air port is about 30 min from the best skiing/riding in the winter that I have done, and I heard the biking in the region is really great too. Plus, since youre in utah, moab and virgin are in you reach.

Bend, OR could be become a mecca with the new freeride park at Prineville and the fact that April Lawyer, and Kirt Vories live there not to mention many others....its also a killer place for road riding, XC and skiing/snowboarding. Personally though (with the high costs) I wouln't move there. If you are strictly DH and FR and I would look more towards Northern Washington and try to land close to Whistler.

thanks for the tips----i had a feeling you'd all say something like "pacwest is the place to be!".....and while it is tempting, so is being nearby a beach and the hot sun. girls just seem to shed clothing in these places.....

my buddy said something about tennesse as well---windrock does look pretty cool, but like i said "wimmen in not a lot of clothing" basically leaves socal and NY as my only options.

unless i were to just blow everyone away and skip the pond over to new zealand--check that place out sometime, riding there looks insane!
thanks for the info fellas, once i get stuff figgered out i'm sure i'll meet up with some of you guys on the hill and we have a great time crashing

uhh you havent ever seen any of the girls that go to UT in knoxville huh? there is also a big lake there where lots of girls have a tendancy to congregate
