I've always used Azonic A-frame flat pedals on my DH bike
and been very happy with them, but looking for maybe something new,
since there is such a wise range of uber nicer pedals out there to choose from.
What is your favorite flat pedal for DH and why ?

cheers

I like the A Frame a LOT. The best pedal I have ridden to date. I have also heard good things about the Crank Bros flat pedals, and Specialized makes a surprisingly nice flat pedal, its super low profile has good pin spacing and the right amount of concave.

I really liked the A-frames, but found that they just have too much grip for Five-Ten shoes. I now have a pair of 50/50s on my DH bike and really like them.

However, they don't have a lot grip, I don't think they would be very good with a pair of normal skate shoes.

I also, own a pair of 50/50's and they feel good with my five.tens, but with any other skate shoe with waffle style soles, they feel slippery. It comes from the that little hump in the center of the pedal, if the pedals were concave instead of flat, the design might have worked out better[imo]. I have also added more traction pins to help.

If snafu still made the pedals that I just retired, I'd still buy those.

I run Crank Bros 50/50's and I love them in the dry, but the minute they get wet I lose all my traction and being from the northwest, they get wet a lot. But I still like them cause theyre blue

Wellgo MG1 or FlyBikes Ruben
I run the rubens on my BMX and the MG1's on my DH and 4X bikes, I really like the MG1's but the pins do snap off pretty easily so having replacable pins is ideal, the rubens are very nice have very good grip but not enough pins for downhill (in my opinion) and pretty expensive

i agree with bicyclist, and you have the option to add more traction pins to them as well and well its quite nice to have 16 pins going into one shoe. although it sucks having them go into your shin. :mumble:

why don't you do a search? if you had, you would have found that you posted a very similar question to this yourself a few months ago.

http://ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142733

it seems like evry day you are asking "how does this compare to that" or "what does everyone else think i should get if i can't get this"

here is a quick link to all the questions you have asked multiple times, just in case you forget

I've always liked Kore Elite platforms, 14 pins per side and about 100grams lighter than Azonics. Also, I feel as though the 2.5mm pins produce a much better connection with my feet vs. the larger pins of the Azonics and others… Just don't slip a pedal with out pads on or it could be a date with the ER.

The Kore Elites are very durable, I've been using the same two pairs on different bikes since 2001, with pin replacements only.

Some probably wouldn't care for them much, but I also ran a pair of Tioga MX-2 Pro pedals one year for dual and 4cross. At 460grams, they're definitely light, but I think I remember bending them after the first year.

The Specialized Lo Pro Mag pedals are money...super grippy and the bearings have held up well so far
Not my favorite. Not as grippy as Tiogas and the bearings fall apart. That's my experience. Sweet BMX pedal though.

Thank you everyone for your great help and responsible posting.
As for davetrump and DS Dom why bother posting anything at all
if you have nothing constructive to add to the thread.
A waste of time of yours posting and a waste of time for everyone
else to read.

here's a couple of pedals i was looking at , at my LBS
The Easton flatboys (572g/pair)
http://www.eastonbike.com/PRODUCTS/OTHER/pedal__top.html
I checked out a pair today , they are definitely sweet pedals
but abit pricey at $230.
The atomlab aircorps looked uber nice http://www.atomlab.com/
they are as thick as the axle itself as they only run on bushes
not bearings
I also saw a pair of Wellgo MG-1's they were so damn lite being magnesium and with sealed bearings and heaps of grip
http://www.wellgo.com.tw/product.asp?category=bmx

I was most impressed with the wellgo MG-1's (376g/pair)
half the weight of most other pedals out there
and look to have plenty of grip and of course half the price as well.
Might well be my new pedals soon.

How does magnesium stand up to pedal abuse though ?

Don't even bother w/ the Wellgo mag pedals. No grip because after about a week half your pins will be gone, and they've got a small platform. They blow.

As for Azonic X pedals, the bearings suck. Every pair I've seen has been broken.

I'm telling you, Tioga MX Pros are the way to go! Plus they're only $60.

the welgo B-37s that i've known all feel grippy and last a long time. they're the go-to pedal in my mind.
i've got a set of soljam vipers on right now they're HUGE. they grip like nothing i've ever set foot on before, but i knock them on rocks and snag roots all the time. they're realy not that tall though.
hozfellers look good, i think that will be my next set. big, but not to big, as low a profile as the specialized but they actualy look good.

I've ridden the Soljams and I don't like them. They're bulky and they don't grip as well as Tiogas.

Picking up my 224 on the weekend
so narrowed my pedal choice down to
Shimano dx flats.
wellgo mg-1's
if i get a good deal maybe easton flatboys
was tossing up on another pair of azonic a-frames but like i said earlier
might try something new for a change

the wellgo mg-1's are similar shape to the easton flatboy's
but almost half their weight but not sure of the duability of magnesium pedals
compared to ali, but then again the easton pedals are double the cost also

You can all breathe a sigh of relief
The 224 is paid for and just being built up right now
just need some decent bling pedals to compliment it
and i'm away instead of my Sunday leftovers

cheers

Who pissed in your Wheaties? Get over yourself, who put you in charge of all the new threads? Nice way to welcome someone with a pretty valid question.

Now, to address the question in this thread. I like the B-27's myself, seem to work just great for me! I always say, if it works, don't fix it!

Please note my signature, BTW.

If you had been around reading and posting a bit more, you would know why people are pretty fed up with his A vs B threads. He posts about 5 a week, and goes back and forth a dozen times between his choices, posting a new thread with every change of his mind.

Pffhheewww!!!!! What a relief! :nopity:

If you did a search, and listened to what others have said in this very thread, you would come up with this

> Mag pedals are crap as they loose all their pins. Fine for freeride / XC, don't bother for DH
> Easton flatboys / cullys have **** house bearings and become all loose after a while and you can't get spare parts, especially in Australia. I have a fugged set at home, want them??
> Atomlab pedals are super flat, more so then any other pedal, but to achieve this they use bushings instead of bearings. These require maintenance more so then normal pedals. Bushings are a great idea for pedals.
> Azonic a-frames are a great all round pedal and cheap
> Slojams are good, probably too grippy though, especially with 5-10's
> Tiogas are a good pedal
> Specilized lo-pros are ok, but not the best pedal out there.

You are happy with A-frames, just stick with them and be done with it.

Also , he would of noticed how some people have nothing
better to do than than put people down trying prove how smart
they are, which no one wants to read, rather than post something constructive, which other people may learn something from.
I think people are more fed up with your put downs all the time.
