Konabiker, you race Jr. X, right? What was your time and place out of the total riders? I'm seeing if I should move up to at least Sport from beginner.

Just wondering if anyone has any pics of me (335) from Beginner 19+. I ride the tan faith with a 66. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I race Jr. X now. Firestone was my first race as an expert, though. I ended up in 5th place out of almost 20 people and my times were 1:37.8 1st run 1:36.1 second run.

We'll see how I do at Nationals. I'm expecting to get owned.

Cool. How would a 1:40 flat have done? I got a 1:43 but I had to pass some kid, and that screwed me up. I could have done 1:40 I figure.

The top ten were all times under the 1:38-1:39 range, so mid pack. It's kind of hard to judge by this race as it caters to a different skill set than a more conventional (Norba National) style race. I wasn't expecting to do very well because of this - as pedalling, and fitness in general are not really my strong points in riding. The fastest time in the class was a 1:30.5 (crazy fast), but the person who set it had a mechanical on his first run.

Yeah, I was sick all the week before so I felt crappy for the fitness part. 1:30 is CRAZY! That's only a bit off Sanjay...

I want to see how I do at Fontana at the Nat next weekend compared to sport/ex riders.

Thanks for all your help!

Kircaldie's fastest was 1:24, and Sanjay's was 1:26... On the second run Sanjay crashed pretty hard on the tabletop near the end.

It was nice to see everybody out there. I had fun. It was cool there is finally a race catered exactly to the perfectly groomed, high-speed trail riding I regularly do.

Sean, I'm assuming you guys were fully clearing the rock *garden*?
If you weren't clearing it, you need your DH licence revoked:rofl:

BTW Sean, Steve is right, that garden is a waste of good rock. Lets tear that out and move it somewhere more appropriate next year. Put a tabletop of the same dimensions in its place.

Other ideas: more corners w/o berms, more corners up top, more corners in general. A new additional course for a DH stage race:love:

Did anyone have trouble with the two berms after the g-out? It seems that you have to slow down so much to make it through them. Maybe if they were wider/taller....

I agree about the rockgarden thing. It could be a double that the slower people could ride through (or they could take the s-turn). Maybe we should have a rockgarden (that you actually ride through).

You know the little bump between the trees after the big berm? I think we should have more bigger ones like that through out the course. You can really get a boost of momentum pumping it.

I think we should have some jumps at the bottom just for playing on during the race. Maybe we could even have a little DJ comp.

Having the DH on Sunday would be nice, too. I only got 4 practice runs in because I couldn't get up there until Friday night, then Saturday practice starts at 7-10 am with the race at noon.

Nice work Wes... thanks for the memories. And sorry about the blood stains; if any of you have a laundry tab, I'll clear it up at Fontuck.
