Sounds like fun, time to break out the 3" travel XC bikes and 2.1" tires!!!SNOW SUMMIT said:It is used to transport cross-country mountain bikers, hikers and sightseers on a relaxing 20-minute ride through the San Bernardino National Forest to our 8,200-foot summit.
You mean the 'off limit' trails that are often cited as one of the main reasons they don't want us back up there.merrrrjig said:There are trails up there, you just have to know where to find them
I just called them and they said no DH bikes.Micro-Sanjay said:I just got an email from summit and stayted that they will alllow some Dh bikes this year with a few excemptions. They will also offer lift tickets discount until Memorial Day weekend to give back to the biking community. I am going.

What about the canyon that was already approved? Seems like work could start there right?

There's always the skidder lines...Zark said:Waiting on more area approvals Conrad?

True, very true, but I'd like to tie up all the loose ends before we get anything going. It would kill me to get this close and then have some knuckle head ride off into the unapproved areas and get the park shut down.Zark said:Waiting on more area approvals Conrad?

well a downhill bike by definition is kinda somewhat broad and open ended and i don't think summit clearly defined that. i really don't think summit will really welcome downhillers anymore bec there is another lawsuit forthcoming from a league of freeriders in LA suing summit for discrimination for not alllowing freeriders and downhiller and only catering to xc bikes.al7barfly said:This is taken DIRECTLY off their website. Why sould you start a thread like this???

threads like this is healthy for the biking community especially if you don't want to sacrifice in the short term basis especially if you plan on moving out of state soon.

thats youre problem, your jaded to think that dh bikes needs to have the blings and whistles magazines made you to think should be. I have a single speed HT for downhilling and it's a downhill bike to me so i guess i am my own loophole. say hi when you see ripping down summit on all the weekends you go up there on.derbinorv said:Because I was up at Snow Summit riding almost every weekend and I didn't see to many "downhill" bikes like that.
from experience accounts, the base station has a chart of "typical bikes not allowed in the mountain." I think zach, one of the lift guys, told us that they don't really police or enforce the no dh stuff strictly unless you're stupid enough to bring a bombshell dh frame with monster t although they were instructed to keep an eye out for Konas and bullets bec a lot of them are converted to pseudo trail bikes. Norcos I know are not allowed. also I found out that if you say that your heavy all mountain "trail" bike is bought from Walmart, they'd allow you to ride up the lift bec they don't want to discriminate the ill-informed internet-deprived folks who happily bought motiv bikes from the chain stores but that usually doesn't fly with Mongoose and Schwinnn bec they know EC races DH and Dave Cullinan raced DH too. I can't wait to go next weekend and wait in line checking out the hot chicks who are checking out rockstar bikers. thank god they don't allow racer type dhers anymore or else id be nobody among the hunnies.bdamschen said:Having never been up there since they closed, how do they check some of these things? Do they cycle your suspension to measure the travel? Do they have a scale there? Or if one of the staff decides that your bike is too downhillish, do they just ask you to leave?
What about helmets/pads? Do they care if you show up with a full face or not?
I think I could have a pretty good time there with an sx trail.
