Has anyone been to Kirkwood for mtbing? They claim to have some advanced/expert trails. Was wondering if anyone had ridden them and is it worth bringing a dh bike?

I don't think they do the lift to the top, but I haven't been there in a long time.

they only do biking on the backside of the mountain.
and it's not DH terrain. Or so everyone who has ridden there has told me. It's the kind of place your parents would cruise around in spandex on vacation.

kirkwood has too much snow right now to even consider.

Kirkwood is good for advanced XC but if you are going to drive that way, there are far better trails that are on HWY88 at Carson Pass and Silver Lake that are very tech and freeride friendly...you just have to do some pedaling (and pushing).

Horse Canyon (near Silver Lake) is like Toads except more gnar.

Either way, we are still waiting for the snow to melt...

What if I just want to cruise around in a bunny suit? From the waist up I mean. Freestyle below the belt of course.

Is that cool? At kirkwood I mean?
Bunny suit, yes. Other suits would have to be approved. A yeti suit would be a definite no. At kirkwood that is.

I've backpacked around that area, starting at Woods Lake and ending up at Silver Lake. I vaguely remember Horse Canyon, I thikn that's the trail I came down to the road on. It's kind of a pain to get up there though, right? If you take a lift up from Kirkwood can you ride around the back of the mountain to get to Silver Lake?
