This Saturday its the Bavarian Bike and Brews Festival in Leavenworth. This is as close to a downhill races as it gets. The course has a 1600 foot drop over 4 miles. There is a separate category for heavy bikes. This is the perfect course for a fit downhill racer waiting to try out the big bike. Oh yeah you have to pedal up 1600 feet over four miles. This can also be an amusing race. People have been known to stop and lose their breakfast on the way up.:nopity: Some of you might have to bring a xc buddy and a couple of bungy cords to make it to the top.

If you survive the race their is a nice beer garden and the beer flows until the last keg is emptied. So whats your excuse for not hitting this one.:)

No excuse. I'm going and attending the beer garden/camping part but not racing. Riding DH instead. I didn't think the XC course was much of dh ride even on the way down???

Downhillers should probably remove their brakes from their bikes to get the full enjoyment of going "downhill". The water bars do make it kind of interesting going down, someone will always try to take one a little too fast and get launched. Last year the big bike category had a total of one racer. You would think there would have been more considering the promoters and the area.
