ive seen guys bust stuff on that exact bike i bet non of you would imagine, guys that live on the shore, that ride up like a hardtail for the pedal up..and can still go big with a fork like that if there soon. Keep in mind that forks set to 7"

There's nothing wrong with that. As said, people like Ht's with big forks because they can climb, but still go huge. They are also cheaper, simpler, and less expensive than a big FS bike. Secondly, that bike is made for a tall fork. It would probably be really steep with a short DJ fork.

Seriously, wtf is in the water down there?

why spend money on a heavy hardtail, when you can spend it on a fs bike that is lighter than that bike. There are plenty of bikes that are lighter than that, they can be climbed, jumped, dhed, XC. Its called an all-mountain bike. And once again you live very close to sb and ride in sb so you cant make any anti sb comments.

I have no idea how good will the Morphine do when you go big.... but I'm sure most of the "all-mountain" work like **** in serious DH course...

:rofl: True, I live close (keyword), not in. It's just too much fun to make fun of SB.

all around the world, there are people doing things that others will deem "stupid." i do things many of you would call stupid, and plenty of you do things I would call stupid. just because i have no need for this bike doesn't mean someone else doesn't. yes i think the concept of a hardtail designed for a DH fork is silly, but i'd rather see people riding silly bikes than smoking crack. at least it wasn't designed around a Super Monster :thumb:

Even though it is overkill for my riding, I like the Morphine even when it is set up with a DC. If I was wanting to race DH on a HT that would be near the top of my list of setups to consider.

Seems to me that if you are buying a Morphine, you are not confused at all as to how it is to be used. Banshee has selected to market its products to riders who know EXACTLY what they are after. The Scream is an other perfect example.

That add makes total sense because someone buying that bike is going to set it up similar to that. There is no reason to buy it if you are riding smooth flowy dj stuff...It's a tank and they market it as such...No smoke and mirrors there...

Morphines rock :agree: They are not nearly as heavy as they look, the frame is just over 6lbs and the dropouts on it are the thickest things I have seen, nearly twice as thick as on my fully. The geometry on it is good too, set it with a 5" SC and its makes a good urban/dj/XC bike, throw a 7" DC on it and it makes a burly freeride hardtail.

But if you are going for confused... heres mine in single speed DJ/XC mode.

Where's Oly? He rocked a Morphine with a Shiver (I think it was a shiver)

He said it worked great. Oh and I think it was a single speed at the time for a Gravity assisted XC ride. :)

that bike is practical. If you had put a dual crown fork on that then i may question it. I think its a nice lookin frame, but not with a dual crown fork.

Mtnbrider- You're on my ignore list, but i wasn't signed in when i saw this thread, and i feel obliged to fill you in on something. SBDHRida is a respected mechanic at Cyclepaths bikeshop in Tahoe each summer, does well in jr. x downhill, and is a bright kid you can actually have a conversation with. He signed up here on RM with no knowledge of the hated SB kids, and made his name extremely similar to theirs; on accident. Please don't clump him in with zmtber and whoever all those other kids are (i think i have most of them on my ignore list anyways.)

And yes, that bike is confused.

yea Natt is a really cool guy. He is also super smart. I went to school with him for 7th and 8th grade and he got straight A's which at the school we went to was hard for most.

I've riden a Morphine with a Monster T plenty and it does really well. Sure a Foes DHS will make you a faster racer, and a Yeti ARC will be faster for xc, but there is a time and a place for everything and the Morphine is unstopable in it's element.

Some people just love hardtails. I love the morphine, with a Dual crown. There is just something about going big on a hardtail.

Whats the point of a Single speed?

A single speed is simple, easy to fix, and there is no der. to wack, although its much harder to ride on a mountain.

I was just about to post that the best day I ever had on my Morphine was when I put the shiver on it... Dont knock it before you try it.

It actually has a Sherman Slider on it now, along with gears. It actually rides better with a bigger fork on it. The front end doesn't feel high at all and it manuals like crazy.

:stupid:

I run my Super T on my .243 HT all the time. Rides frikkin great! Does it rival an M3 (or other full on DH bike) on the downhills? No, of course not, you're sillyif you think it would. BUT it is a ton of fun, rides well, and my frame is made for it so there's no issue of snappin a head tube.

I can't see a pic... what is it? a Moriphine w/a Monster T?... different strokes for different folks...

I know that a Shiver on a Le Toy xl is a fun combo at a chairlift... not all hard tales are designed to work with a longtravel fork...

infact there are only afew that won't snap... the lightest one is the GSR Hooligan... and I have one for sale; so if this intrests you I can hook you up! Pm me...
