hey all, finally I dispose of some money to get a new rear shock. As some of you know, I own a Karpiel Disco Volante. The only quick and natural solution that would come in the shape of a shock would have to have a remote piggyback like found on the avalanche dhs, or on the fox dhx5 on the turners (and some other manufactures which I don't really like). Now these are my to options, the fox dhx and the avy, the problem is money, weight and availability. While I know the dhx is cheaper and much lighter (and I am a weight wennie) I'm not shore fox would make a dhx with a remote reservoir for me (I mailed them but haven't had any answers), does anyone know if the do? I love the dhs, but it's too much money and too heavy, plus I wouldn't have any money for a Ti Spring.

Another question I wanted to ask, I'm running on 05 Boxxer World Cups, and I'm kinda of tired of having to get the fork a bit "hot" for it to work nicely (the oil moving), I gave a travis a parking lot test and if felt so much better, what is the general opinion about these forks? I don't like the 888 due to the fact they feel much heavier to throw around than my boxxer, even though it's a 1000 times more plush. I felt the travis was just inbetween the 888 and the boxxer, cause it felt light even though it actually weigh out as much as the 888 and it was plush right out of the box, what do you think? thanks before hand

You won't be able to get a remote DHX.

If you're concerned with weight maybe a Karpiel isn't the best choice, though.

why not stay with rockshox and get a new boxxer team. fox will not make a rear shock for you. why wouldn't a regular dhx fit?
i'm all for the avy rear shocks. but if you're strapping for cash get a cheaper DHX with less features.

anyone else want to chime in about the boxxer though, can't he just get the motion control upgrade kit or something?

as far as I know, a karpiel dv is by far one of the lightes frames out there, anyways, o got a roco put the thing doesn't fit in because the piggy back will hit the swingarm before the shock bottoms out, in fact like an inch before bottoming out the reservoir will hit the swingarm, I've triend putting it any in all directions and nothing works, why won't fox make one for me? I don't understand.. :mumble: I tried the 06 boxxer and loved it as well, I've seen the 888 07 will come out super light, I might just earn loads of money from here till next year and get that one... anyways, what can I do? I fear a normal dhx would have the same problem as my roco, I getting a friend to lend me his, any other solutions?

Remote 5th?
well up to now, don't really like the 5th element, and how much would a remote one cost anyways? the pushed vanilla is an option, but I've just come out of a vanilla rc and don't want to go back, it seems and avy will have to do, anyways, why doesn't fox sell remote dhx?

Fork: Why not stay with the Boxxer and give her a little bit of tuning?? There are some companies out there which will give your fork a much better ride, in fact much better than a standard setup of an actual (new) fork. Will cost less bucks than a new fork, definitely.

Romic or Avalanche Monotube.
romics I don't like, I've seen to many busted, and the avalanche monotube would seem just the same, plus I think it works with floating piston right? not for me, I like the dhs over them all, I guess I'll have to go with that, now about getting a kit for the boxxer? I don't want to bother, I'm switching to and even lighter racing oil, and the springs have already been set up for me, anyways, there's a slight chance I might change the frame, I love the sunday, but I feel just at home on a 8to5 due to suspension design which is so close to my dv and weighs a tad more, what do you guy's think? does anyone know why fox doesn't make the dhx remote? thanks I'm really intriged as to why

romic is not an option because they dont make the 8,5" shock needed for a disco volante
monotube is a good idea, although i think it will be a bit more progressive towards the end of the stroke than what one could want for a disco, ill hear with craig about it later today and report back.

Remote 5th?
nah, SPV or progressiveness has no real purpose on those bikes.

karpi, have you tried to put a dhx on? i think thats your best option at the moment.

Yeah, I've never heard of a remote DHX that was shorter than 9.5".

A little while ago there was talk of 'making' a Fox shock have a remote resevoir. Someone else will have to give details although I'm assuming there's only an oil pathway in that 'bridge' between the resevoir and shock body. Cut that in the middle, thread each end and install a hose. Although finding someone to refill the and rebuild the shock would be hard unless vitox could do it. In the end, would it be worth the trouble? (if it would even work at all). Plus there was talk about how Push wouldn't work on shocks meant for Karp frames because of the leverage.
