Hunnie-tunes (silly pondering)

I was just curious if any of you hunnies have a song(s) that play in the back of your mind when you are rockin' on the trail? CCR "Suzy Q" always gets me through tough, long climbs and endless xc races. Odd, odd magical powers. Why I ask is that I find that having a song with an awesome beat really helps my riding. I have made it kind of a rule to get a good beat going in my mind and then I can ride along with the beat -- do drops, and rock gardens, etc., like nothing. :)

Rise Against...especially the "Revolutions Per Minute" album. My favoriite is a song called "Halfway There" (appropriate motivation for those really long, drawn out climbs)! If you've never heard Rise Against, I HIGHLY recommend them.

Rise Against is the perfect DH music. Especially when everyone is in the truck shuttling to the top of the run. Gets your heart pumping.
Good call.

I'm also partial to some bouncing souls.

ooh-maybe that's why I'm still struggling with downhill skills. I can't carry a tune to save my life. :(

But I like G&R Welcome to the Jungle for downhill.

I don't ever have songs in my head on DH runs....I'm too busy talking myself through the run

But I like to listen to stuff before I ride....Clutch, System of a Down, anything hard and loud to get me pumped up.

I hate getting the last song you hear on the radio stuck in your head before a XC ride...it always ends up being a stupid song that I can't stand and I'm fighting to get it out of my head the whole ride.

I once sang itsy bitsy spider in my head while swimming laps at the pool, but I'm a childrens librarian, so you can forgive me that bit of dorkiness. :)

weimie-I always talk to myself on the trail, especially getting through the hard parts.

I always have music in my head at work etc. But when I ride, it's weird, but I'm not usually thinking about anything but "look out for that root," or "damn, look at you push up that climb!" Maybe that's why I love riding so much because it doesn't leave room to think about anything else except for what's happening that vary second.

The only way I can get music playing in my head is to have an iPod. There is lots of really good music found on bike videos, like Roam, and even small video clips. I do have some good playlists that I use for my trainer. I love Rammstein, german heavy metal, industrial type stuff.

Does anyone ride with and iPod? I have one but don't think I could ride with it. I'd be in my own little world oblivious to everyone else...and I like to know if anyone is coming up on me. But I bet it would be pretty cool.

Missy Elliot or the Black Eyed Peas would be pretty cool....get you feelin' funky.

I love Missy Elliott - her funky stuff that is, not the slow tunes.

I used a player when I was learning to telemark ski and found it really helpful to get myself pumped up to be aggressive on moguls. I would think it would be the same riding. You can still hear stuff ok. Heck, I think having a full face helmet on kills sound more than headphones!

I usually XC ride with my iPod. It works really well. I can easily speed up to almost 1 additional mph faster on my regular loop (which is a big deal for me :) ) by listening to tunes.

The new Sergio Mendes remix by the Black Eyed Peas works very well -- awesome brazilian bosa nova mixed with their dance/funk beats.

Winter riding on my board - I always have tunes. Summer riding on my wheels - never. But that's probably because my comfort and confidence level on my bike isn't there yet. That said, there isn't a lot of wildlife that you have to worry about running into in the winter at the ski resort or in the backcountry... I feel safer on the trails in the summer when I at least have the potential of being able to hear what's going on around me, like the "Yo Bear"s coming from down the trail!

Ditto on the new Madonna though. Not much of a dance listener either, but that new disk is SO fun!

I rode with my music today for the first time. I only had the headphones in one ear, and that worked really well. I thought it would help me climb better, but actually I don't really remember the song playing. It was fun on the downhill though.
