As for positioning, I know one thing that helps in photos and visually in person is height. Tall guys always just look flat out faster. They seem more animated, their movements are more dramatic. Limbs splayed out more.
Watch video or photos of Rando and Hill come down a mountain, then watch Peat and Rennie. Rando and Hill don't even look like they're doing anything since they are smaller riders...but they're definitely HAULING!
But as for the comparison of me to Herndon..he is faster, but my defense my dust cloud is hidden by my fat ass...
