flew out to korea yesterday... after an ordeal i m here... great to see the missus and hang out for a few weeks... she is doin well and lovin her little single speed that i built her before she left... i also bought along my bianch ss and thankfully i didn t get stung to bring it on the plane... fair enough as it was my ONLY piece of checked baggage...

so here are my latest airling observations

- if you aren t bright enough to find your seat on your own then you probabally shouldn t fly... i mean could it be any easier - numbers and letters.... 35E.... i mean it really isn t that hard but still clowns bumble around not knowing where to place themselves....

- if the toilet is 'occupied' (by me) banging on the door is pointless as it will only make me want to piss on the seat...

- an mp3 player is essential as it drowns out the worthless screams of the child 2 rows behind...

- i highly recommend filling a small (1.25 pt - 591 mL) bottle with http://www.ketelone.com/ it mixes great with 7up or coke... makes the flight a little more enjoyable...

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
Very sound advice for any traveler.

But for long flights I like to have a bottle of Vodka, and a bottle of Jack Damiels, as coke is free on the flight, and Jack and Cokes are good. Same with Vodka tonics, and screwdrivers

One time, I sat in the wrong seat, then proceeded to lose my boarding pass. I got dirty looks from everyone because I wasn't sure what seat I belonged.

Another time, I gave up my seat so a senile old man could sit next to his wife. I moved to 5 different seats as the standbys entered the plane, and I did not enjoy the dirty looks then either.

It is not possible for 3 men to sit comfortably together, shoulder to shoulder, in coach class. All seating asignments should be boy, girl, boy. Or girl, boy, girl... depending on which Penthouse Forum you've just read. :)

agreed. I never pay full price for it if I get it. It's always miles or some other deal I find.
If I can't find it for a deal, then the flask it is!

If you're having problems dealing with airline travel, just wait for the new Airbus 380. Based on the planes configuration, the 380 will hold between 500 and 800 passengers. Can you image the chaos prior to departing? Waiting for your baggage along with 800 other passengers should be a real pleasure.

I always get aisle seats and try to be the last person on the plane to avoid any strife.

Japanese domestic 747's are configured for over 500 people. They seem to manage without too much fuss. On the A380 they'll be boarding/deplaning from both decks, shouldn't be a problem.

Am I the only dude in the world who can't stand aisle seats? Yeah, more leg room, until the drink cart slams into your knee while you're asleep, or the 75 people who brush against you on their way to the toilet or shoulder bags slapping me in the face while people try to stuff luggage the size of yaks into the overheads. I just want to sit down, not be bothered, and go to sleep. Makes the time pass quicker, just like a spiked bottle of Aquafina.....

I'm a window man myself. The kid in me likes to watch the wing do its thing while laking off and landing, and I can see all the cool geological features.

i have to agree, but the holy grail in the ghetto class seats is definately the ones near the bulkhead... no one in front of you and and as much leg room as you need...

my airline tip of the day - order vegetarian meals, the food is much better and it comes first... when the 'snack' arrived on the flight the other day i got a fresh black bean, corn and salad tray with a small pita bread.... the rest of em got cup a noodle.... i win :)

Hah, we ate in a "Japanese" restaurant run by Koreans last week...introduced the Mrs. MikeD to the delicate fragrance of kimchi. It was flashback city when I caught nose of it...smell is the sense most directly connected to memory and all. Anyhow, she's VERY eager to be sent to Korea now, lemme tell you.

And since when is OB decent?? Were you still drunk from the flight over??

We're driving out Thursday, should be passing by your CA place on Sat/Sun or so...you still be in Korea??

C'mon...cover anything you can find with salt and chili powder, bury it and let it ferment for a coupla months...voila, a national cusine fit for the gods themselves.

Oh, and you should try flying to Korea on Asiana Cargo. I was back and forth with them a few times, flying on the crew deck of a cargo 747...nice. Got 7 business class seats (although many can't recline fully b/c of the bulkheads) and 2 bunks to share with the crew, so you can get some real shuteye. And you cook your own food in the galley when you want it. Not a bad way to spend 18 hours...

You can have it, dude. ALL yours. In Korea and in CA.

Driving out Thursday morning to Cali...packing out the apartment on Monday, graduating training on Wednesday, and getting out of dodge ASAP.

You're here till the 5th or so?

Wanna hook up for a ride?

There's a good crew of wayguks here. On weekends we usually do shuttles on Namhansanseong or hike-a-bike up Achasan. Sometimes the odd XCish ride too, thrown in to make us remember why we like DH.

Your loss is our gain.

First time I ate it, I thought, "Wow, this tastes a lot better than you'd think." After a few weeks of it, morning, noon, and night, I kinda had my fill for a lifetime. That much salt that often gets to me, I guess.

So eat up...I'll gladly grab some Thai down the street...
