Anyone ever had this happen?

I got back from Whistler only to notice that my rear shock (DHX 4.0) had leaked a substantial amount of oil from underneath the propedal knob. What made me look was that I can compress my rear shock but it feels like there is nothing happening besides the spring compressing a little bit in the first part of the travel. Just wondering if anyone has seen this happen before or is it just fallin' apart? I've owned 3 of these shocks before and this has never been an issue. Thanks.

You blew the shock...basically without the oil, the shock is just a spring with no damping (no rebound, compression, etc. control)....time to take it back to your LBS (if you bought the bike or shock there....) or send it back to Fox yourself....either way, have fun...

Edit: Yeah. What skc said....I forgot about push....don't know how though...since they revalved my last shock...might be getting old...sigh...

Actually it may not be blown. It may just be low on oil. If oil leaked out then it could cause the click in the travel with no rebound/compression damping. I am not positive but this may be the case.

The shock knew you are a huge bike whore, so its giving you the option to upgrade now ;)

Whistler was sick! Actually so was the riding in the Seattle area, I need to go hit all that stuff again sometime soon. Maybe you are right there Zark, but I'm not sure if I would be able to get the Revox to fit into the frame...

Well, if you want to Whistler again for a week in Aug, let me know, we got a spot open.

How would it get low on oil without being blown?

No matter what its gonna have to be opened up. Just a little oil leaked out will make a huge difference. Wanna buy a 5th element? :p
