I'm thinkin about sellin my dirtbike and gettin a sunday team. i want to do some dh races but it will also be my freeride bike. i don't do any northshore, mostly jumping and whistler type stuff. i have a hardtail for dirtjumps. i don't really do any big hucks, i only weigh 145 lbs, and i'm pretty smooth. will a sunday work or is it really only for racing?

unpossible. Sundays will self destruct if they roll over wood slats.

Honestly, it can be done, but the geometry is really geared towards racing, but if it feels comfortabel to you, ride it. the best advice i can give is to ride one first.

I love my sunday for everything from tech freeride, to blasting down a flowy trail. I like the slacked out racer boi geometry. And I think this should answer any questions as to whether they are freeridalble or not. A friend just did this beast on his 05 sunday team w/boxxer, roco full race setup and the bike didn't explode. This isn't him but it's the same day.

I just came back from Whistler..and my Sunday performed really well...i didnt ride much on those skinny/ladder crap...but it jumps and drops very well.. the only thing you have to look out is the low bb height...quite a few times i was hitting my pedals on rocks and stuff..and yesterday i tacoed my mrp/chainring after hitting a massive rock while hitting the step up on Dirt Merchant

well the people who designed the bike designed it for downhill and freeride so if you take it off big hucks and drops and just stuff you wouldnt see in the common dh course you could mess somthing up

For 07 there will be "freeride" Sundays, two of them in fact. One of them will even be brown (rootbeer? nah...more like espresso...stronger and more caffinated than rootbeer) and both will have 888's.

This is pretty much how I use my Sunday (except I haven't done any races yet, but will soon). Keep in mind the BB is very low and I have found it is a dis-advantage at very slow "freeride" type stuff. However it jumps very well and I found had no issues at Whistler except on the few "north shore" type trails (a couple of the very slow speed wooden trails). Keep the limitations on mind and it should be a great bike for you.

Fun Fact: Normally rootbeer has no caffeine in it at all.

Well, since you are the "freeridekid", you should probably go with the rm7fr. Just stay away from the rm7dh.

to all you smart@$$es out there i know u could physically ride any dh bike on just about any type of terrain, but i'm askin is the sunday like pure race geometry and whatnot so that it does not jump as naturally and is just not that fun to ride on anything but a fast race course. if i'm gonna blow 3000+ on a bike i wanna make sure i'm getting exactly what i want out of it. i've never had a full on dh bike nor ridden one on anything other than pavement, so i'm kind of new to this area. my current ride has like 6.5inches front and rear and a steep 68 degree HA so it definitely has a different feel than a true dh bike.

I will try to help........................

First how many races do you plan on racing and what class?
1) A few at beginner/sport?
Solution: Get a 7point............It has 68deg HA but put a 888 on it and the higher axle to crown will give you about 67degs, more than slack enough for sport courses. It has 17.2 stays which will provide more than enough stability and the BB will be in the low to mid 14s (very similiar to alot of DH rigs today and of yesteryear). It also comes with all the other goodies like thru axle and a spacious cockpit (23"TT for a 17").

2:A couple of expert races:
If just a couple, I still will go with the 7point, it is cheaper and more versitle for 80% of the riding you will be doing outside of racing since you are only doing 2 or so. Plus with the 888, it has similiar DH race angles to the older SGS DH. The only places where the 7point will be over its head is the larger motostlye (wide open 30-40mph )courses like Mt. Snow. If this is mostly what your local courses are like get the Sunday.

3: If you are going full expert racer boy.........get the Sunday........You will only be freeriding every other weekend b/c you will be traveling to the races most weekends of the month and you will want to freeride your race bike to stay used to it.

hope it helps........................

God I hate typing......................

if you are used to a bike like that ,and want it to jump and "freeride" better, you might be better off going with a 7.point
