Check this years international results, Cole is gonna clean up the juniors and if he doesn't Sam Blenkinsop will :)
Not so sure about that, he has been placing well in pro, but his times are not that impressive compared to Daniel Hultgen. At the sugar national D Hultgen had a 4.02 while Cole had a 4.04, and at Deer Valley Daniel had a 3.08 while Cole had a 3.09. Bar a crash i think Brendan Fairclough will take it, but it should be an interesting race.

My take on the race.

We do get support but it's nothing special, we're all out there having a great time and the race spectators is probably defiantly the highlight of the race, the prizes are just a 'half' bonus.

Duh, the Australians just don't give a fck. That's why they go faster.

Americans spend too much time on internet forums discussing the best kind of elbow guard, while the Aussies are outside riding. That and they just don't give a fck, and are willing to ride the gnarliest stuff as fast as possible. Figures that a land consisting of evolved pirates and hookers is the land of the world's fastest DHers...

Two seconds are not nearly enough to say one rider is substantially faster than another, especially on a 4 minute course. A lot of DHing is luck. Two seconds on a four minute course is about the time of three or four pedal strokes.

If I remember right it was a Fox cap, about 2 years old.
We don't get **** for winning down here, and nobody cares because it's all about the bikes.

Frodo set a faster time than Mick Hannah on the worlds track in march. And the three fastest NZ times of the day tho he did crash his pro race run. Beat all the Aussie juniors to take out u19 handily.
Sam beat Fabien in the previous round. Its anyones pick. Nicholai's joris bigoni has looked up there for the juniors too.
I'd have to say Frodo or Blenky to win since they have the home advantage.
The Coriolis effect will probably stuff up the nth hemers. when tiger woods played golf here he came 97th.

sorry, i was talking cole bain.
No such thing as a Cole Bain, you probably mean Joel Bain, from Western Australia.

"Cole" in this context means Cameron Cole, a superfast NZ junior who could probably win this years Junior title if he wasn't cursed with the "Kiwi Gene" which causes people to reach sports highest levels, generate masses of expectation and then choke uncontrollably in a manner that is extremely sartisfying for people from neighbouring countries to watch ;) *stir dig prod etc*

What was pro prize at Aussie Nationals? Norba didn't give squat last year. Im not saying "pitty us" I am sure Australia has got it pretty bad too. But for the amount of money, and sources the US has, we really have no one behind us. The crowd in that video was about as big as the crowd at the Norba Nationals during pro finals at Mt. Snow. Both the US and AUS need more support, but how does it come?

Sorry, what? Its got nothing to do with support, if your boys cant ride down a hill without someone holding their hand then thats their problem. There is next to no sponsership for fast guys that will get them anywhere, they have to go looking OS for that sort of support, usually in America... Look at the amount of lift acces trails America has compared to Australia. Theres more than enough access, variety and industry support to breed fast racers in the US, you're just not hungry enough.

I think that sais a lot. Ive met some Aussie and NZ riders and they all had one thing in common, theyre just not scared to ride off the brakes.
I talked to Nathan Rankin about this in Morzine last summer and he said he could train on the hill next to his house all he wanted but I guess that goes for a lot of americans too so I think most Aussie/NZ riders just have a screw loose when it comes to riding.
And yes, that includes you Parts
I dont know who of you monkeys have ever been to Morzine but if you know the "Le Pleney" track, just check out this vid of Rankin and youll know what I mean with "screw loose"...

To be honest i think it comes down to a few factors

1. Weather - We can ride all year round = 2x as much riding as most people in europe and the states
2. Lack of lift assisted tracks - Means you have to walk up alot of tracks, or share shuttle with other smelly riders which makes you want to ride fast to get away from them.
3. Cost of bikes - DH bikes are real expesive here. If you spend that much money on something you want to use it
4. Race scene - We have rennie and so forth coming back each year to race the national rounds, helps push the younger guys to go faster
