2007 SX Trail I

Has anybody else checked out the new 07 Specialized bikes in the dealer book? I'm looking to get a Trail SX (all 06's are pretty much gone) and will probably get an 07. The specs are similar to the 06 model, except for a few things. First, it has a front der, which I'm gonna take off. Second it has Avid Juicy 3's. Now is this a new brake for 07, or is it some kind of a type-o? The last thing is the wheels. They use some DT Swiss rims and I haven't heard much about them. Anybody have any experience with them. I think they were something like 510 or 710, I don't remember which. Just wondering about the wheels and brakes basically. Oh and if anybody knows the retail and cost on this bike. Thanks!

The 06 SX II is 3800, the SX I is 3000. Sounds good for the rims. THey looked solid enough. I just hope the J3's aren't a downgrade from the 5's, which I wouldn't be all that stoked about running anyway. I'd like it to have some magura's or something.

or why not support a local builder instead of one that gets some company in korea/taiwan to make theirs.

Cause I get a longer travel bike for alot cheaper. I'll get it through the shop I used to work at. I'd love that bottlerocket, but I think I'll regret only having that much travel.

the DT rims are known for denting quite easily. so be good on your air pressure. doesn't the bottle rocket have 6.7" of travel and the SX trail has just under 7"

isn't that too close to care?

Wise up how? What are you ****in joking? I'm comparing the travel of two bikes and the price of two bikes so I can decide what I want to get. I'm not comparing dollars to inches of travel...ass

the bottlerocket has 5.55" and the SX has like 6.7". So its over an inch difference.

i was just wondering ...

is there anything a trail sx can do that a bottlerocket can't with its 1 inch less of travel?

i'm asking because i wanted to get a full suspension, my first one, and i was looking at the bottlerocket.

i'd be using it on trails and for light freeriding. people say the travel is low, but would that ever hinder me when it comes to maybe bigger stuff in the future when i get better?

is it true that it's not like i'm ever going to get as good as the owners of tbc, so if they can ride it through crazy sh*t, then i should never have to worry right?

For me, its quality not quantity. I like the bottle rocket for the price but it all depends on personal preference. I ride an AS-X, thats made in the USA, can do anything, and I got a great deal from dropnzone.com, Something to think about.

No, they could probably both do almost everything the same. But I want to get something for all kinds of riding, maybe even some light downhill races. I just think I'd prefer to have the extra inch of travel in the long run. And I might be able to get an 06 model from my local shop, which would be sweet! From what I hear, the Juicy 3 brakes on the 07 sx trail are identical to the 5's but they are made overseas for cheaper. Also, I don't like that the 07 has a double ring up front. Although, the wheels seem nicer.

i would totally support USA built if they could get me something at the same spec AND price point. most everything USA built averages $500+ more than what overseas mfg's offer.

Just another day in the Ghetto...
DT Swiss rims are solid, but they dent way too easy. Witin a month you can have three or four major dents and have to wonder if your tire is going to stay on. Off course it depends on what type of terrain your riding - anything with rocks and they are going to dent.:mad:

That wont happen. What youre actually saying is "Id rather send my money overseas to someone who will get paid pennys on the dollar and will never re-invest those dollars in the US." So, you dont support the USA....

That being said, I try and buy US also, but specialized does a great job of making bikes that work well for the right price.

And how the EFF is that gonna happen if we keep buying sh*t produced in a country that has moral obligation to its workforce?
You can't! Every time you buy overseas crap to save $500 that is one less bike ordered from an American company, who in turn has to sell his bike at a higher cost to compete with volume of the Asian made bikes who are producing in such mass volume that the American guy can't even buy the tubing for what the Asian company can import a finished product.

American companies aren't charging us more; we've just been sold on paying less no matter what the economical repercussions are. And lucky for all of us Wal-Mart-Americans there are countries who don't have to follow any human rights or copy right laws, so they can keep pumping out slave made goods, so we can save $500 that we will turn right around and spend on $500 worth of more foreign made sh*t. And lucky for those Asian manufacturers there are lots of smart businessmen in this country that will take advantage of the fact that we would all rather save $500 and buy 2 bikes or a new bike every year or two as opposed to only being able to afford 1 American made bike.

We are the biggest bunch of gluttons on the planet and our buy, buy, buy attitudes has us sucking hind tit, but hey what do we care if some machine shop in the Midwest has to shut there doors because they can't compete. It's not our fault they follow laws and pay their employees (the mothers and fathers of us) a fair wage and insurance so their kids can have food and clothing and..........bikes!


How many employees a Pacific you think own Glorys or other high end frame?
Now how many Ellsworth or Turner employees own those frames?

I agree, however my pockets do not at the moment. I say if you have the means you should buy USA/CANADA products. If your poor liek me the solution is to either go for it straight up, or wait till you truely have the means (ie solid employment).

As a side note I only have hardtails and US made hardtails compete slightly better (black market etc.) than the US fullys and are high quality (or at least thats teh word on the street).

I cant say I agree with ellsworth marketing a 1k hardtail however, that seems rediclious...
