So I have a few ads running in different areas. I thought I selected the option of getting a notification when someone replied to my ad.
Looking a a few different ones that have replies and I never got a notification?
Also, it would be nice to see if there are replies with out having to open the ad. Like in the old forum?

One last thing. In an ad if there are replies, there is a PM button next to their username. I assumed it meant it would PM that user but much to my embaressment it PM'd the original poster.

Yes, if it was posted in the old section you'll need to repost it.

So just to clear this up.....

My ad (which was placed when the system first came up) has no way to delete it (as I got the parts already). Since there's no way to delete it in the wanted section can I just mark it sold and it'll be deleted?

I don't have a deleted check box anywhere on my setup. Just wanting to know which is the correct way of doing this?

Could you put in a field in the ads for location? Or just have it show that part of the poster's profile? Because often I would like to be able to guess at shipping costs and times and there is no good way to tell with the new ads without looking up the persons screenname in the members list.

Thanks

OK........I must be an idiot. I can't figure out how to post in the new classifieds. Am I missing a rather obvious NEW POST button or something?

So I never saw a reply to this. Is there a way to delete an ad before it expires?

EDIT: The other day when the split was made for the rear/front suspension my fork got put in the rear suspension forum. I re-posted it in the fork section and then edited the post in the rear section to remove all text. A day later I got an e-mail telling me my ad had been deleted because it had insuficient info or something to that efect.
Is this a way to delete a post or does this reflect back on me from the admins perspective as some sort of hooligan poster?

Figured it out........if anyone else has this problem and is running Firefox with adblock, turn off adblock and the post new ad button magically appears. (along with a spasm inducing flashing banner ad)

Only gripe I've got is when you click 'todays posts' or whatever it doesn't list them in chronological order. It would be cool if the newest ads were at the top.

It is very likely that I am a doofus and doing something wrong, but I tried to change the category for an add (from Complete Bike -> Hardtail to Frames -> Hardtail) and it said "You do not have permission for this action!"

Is it just me, or do these ads see MANY less views than the old format did?
I think it's because the categories are too specific. Before, I'd just browse through "components" and look at stuff. Now, it's too much of a pain to look through every single category so I never use the classifieds.

Agreed. I think the old format, whilst looking crappy and disorganized, netted more traffic and sales simply because it seemed to be part of the forums, and you could see lots of stuff all at once.

I know this is an extra couple of steps, but you can browse entire sections at once. Just click search, select the sections you want to show up such as all the Components categories (using Shift to highlight big chunks works fine), and execute the blank search.

Transcend, I think they are getting fewer views, but not by that much. You also have to take into account the sheer quantity of ads in the old style that had nondescript or incomplete titles and of course no picture next to them. I can avoid clicking on a lot of the ads because I don't see "Frame and shock for sale" and want to know what it is.

True, but I am just going by my ads, which are always pretty descriptive, with pics etc.

So far views seem way down, and inquiries and sales are for sure as well. Same type of stuff as well (good variety this time too).

Yep...I tried selling a couple things with the new classifieds at relatively cheap prices and barely got any inquiries or hits.

Put them up on the MTBr classifieds and they were gone within 3 days. Usually I can expect that here, but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

I posted my 05 Marzocchi 66 on here last Wednesday at 6pm and it was sold by 7pm the same day. I have sold lots of other stuff on the new format and like it much more. I just wish the people who bought my stuff could figure out how to give me a good review.

No one seems to use that feature, Its simple just click on the users name and give them a review.

Oh well...... Cant have it all!

I posted my ad but when it got done uploading it just brought me back to the "post new ad" thread and my ad was nowhere to be found. Does it take some time for it to show up ?

New classifieds are crappy...I hate to say it. I have never really spoken badly about any changes around here but this one changed for the worse. You can't bump, less traffic, ETC.

Completyely agreed. The link to the section SEEMS to have boosted traffic a bit (my veiws went way up on some ads after it was put up) but i really preferred the old method. RM is planning on making a bunch of changes to it (he inhereted a half complete system) but he just hasn't had the time.

This section is aprticularly interesting to me, as I traditionally use it to unload a ton of stuff.
