Have fun in Mexico, Rob!

Got a fun weekend on tap...as usual. :) Hockey game tonight, then tomorrow it's a group ride in the morning, followed by cookout and beer at our house. Lots of fun stuff to play on at tomorrow's ride spot. :) Sunday we'll probably hit up Case Mountain.

Hope my new wheel is ready tonight or it'll be the backup bike for me this weekend.

Cayman Islands, not Cancun. I'll be about an hour southwest of Cuba for 11 days. Fidel!

Wish I was able to get out and ride this weekend. The lack of riding is sucking this summer.

Good morning,

The Margarita ride last night was fun, rode back to the trailhead through some light rain which was very pleasant.

Packing for the Flagstaff campout tomorrow and heading up early Saturday morning.

Have a good weekend.

I'm going riding today at 4:30is. I've been having a great week with my sons, but this weeked is their Mom's weekend. Fortunately she works real close to my local riding spot, so I'll drop them off at her office at 4ish and be riding by 4:30ish. I gotta get in shape for Ashford.

Had a nice visit with Douglas yesterday. Then I bought the baby a walker and put it together before dinner. Now, she's moving around the house and having a blast. We're going to head out for a walk soon and then maybe (if it warms up outside) hit the pool. Riding at 5pm tonight with some friends and we'll hit the usually watering hole afterward. That is all...

morning! Got called into work today at 6:30. Power went out here last night and our servers went down. So they called me in early to start up the servers and when I got here the power was still out. :mumble: So I read a book for a bit. Power is back on now and the casino should be open by noon. :thumb:

Riding tonight with Treesaw and the gang. Brought the SS with me, so it should be a sufferfest. :dead: :thumb:

Yo. Counting down the day until we head to Fernie for a weekend of riding and debauchery. :weee: If no one dies, gets arrested, or catches the clap, it will be an overwhelming success. Stag-ish weekend....

Ouch. I'm going to be limping around this weekend as the result of several omens come to fruition.

Omen 1: I was in a lab all yesterday morning and most of the afternoon and wasn't near the phone. My wife thought that I had tried to call her and was worried when I didn't pick up my office phone when she tried to return my call. She thought maybe I had gotten hurt on my ride to work.

Omen 2: On my afternoon ride home, I dropped a key in the grass and I was bent over on all fours rooting through the grass looking for it. Some good samaritan drove up and asked if I was hurt.

Omen 3: As I was heading out to ride yesterday afternoon, the last thing my wife says is "Don't get hurt"

The result: I get to the trail head and ride to the jumps. I hit the first jump on the set. Landed a little funny and saw that I was headed for what looked like a pungi stick so I bailed off. My knee pad slipped and I smacked my kneecap directly on the ground. A totally freak wreck. My knee instantly swelled up the size of a softball. So after about 15 minutes of riding I was headed home to a nice relaxing evening of Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Fortunately by this morning, most of the swelling had gone down and my knee seems to be fully functional. Just a little sore. I think I'm going to be OK.

Morn' all. Had to slip out of work for a while today. Got a call that a big tree had fallen across the road to the animal shelter. I cut it up and was dragging it into the woods, and didn't realize under the underbrush on the side of the road was not flat. It was a slope I slid down with the tree trunk on top of me. No injury. It was pretty funny. I got free coffee out of the deal.
This weekend on tap:
Sat - AM chores, afternoon ride at Bradbury st park, followed by an evening of drinking beer & working on my friends mini-ramp.
Sun - Attitash dh

Oh man...feel better. Nothing worse than getting sick on a Monday and having to take a long weekend ;)

About Diablo, are there trails that are mellower than full out DH stuff? Rob will be here for a week at the end of the month and I'm taking time off. I'd like to try a little more intense XC (I have 4" of travel, he has 5). Would that be a good place for us to go and come back in one piece?

Dude, I had an awesome day yesterday.... cut out of work @ 11:30, went and did trail work for 5 hours and then spent the rest of the evening shuttling the trails. Best overall day on the hill in a long time. More riding scheduled for Sunday when I get home.

i'm always a fan of more travel when it comes to DH places, but the terrain isn't very steep, so if you just watch yr speed you should be ok. there are bony trails where you will definitely want more travel (ie, race course, evil bob, etc) but there are fairly smooth ones too (dominion, alpine).

that said, i am pretty sure they rent bikes (and armor) too, so that's always an option.

:stupid:

I wouldn't hesitate to ride my Dawg there on a lot of the stuff.

I have played there before with my heckler and had a great time [5" travel]. there are some xc trails that are none lift assisted too but that's not worth going to diablo for. I believe stosh has been there with his irohorse as well. you can also rent all the padding/full face helmet there as well... there is enough beginner stuff there to kep you happy
