OK peoples - I am within 10 days of moving to North Tacoma - about 2 miles up the hill from Point Defiance Park, 2 blocks north of Pearl Street.

What sort of bicycling opportunites are within riding distance of that location? The wonder truck is dead & my Accord will not be seeing any shuttle action... seems like there would be something close by?

You will be living very close to me actually.

I am not exactly sure how you will be living two blocks North of Pearl though. Pearl is a North/South Road. ;)

This hood rules for road riding. My fav loop drops down to the Point for a couple laps, then out to Titlow, up to U.P., down Chambers Creek Road to Sunnyside Beach, up through Steilacoom into Lakeweird, and all the way via Tyler/Stevens St.

Perhaps I became discombobulated or something... two blocks west is more likely. I was wondering if there was any trail riding in the area at all. Probably not.

I drive up pearl almost every day (untill march). I dont ride bikes anymore though... takes too much time away from being a loaf....

Maybe one of these days when your hugging the narrow shoulder on pearl, i'll pass real close and smack you with a mirror,,,, or throw some garbage at ya... Just to welcome you to the hood..... :)

There's some short ghetto trails here and there...like Puget Park down (or up) to Rustin way, and a scary bum filled trail that goes behind Stadium Way. The road routes that were described are the best bets.

What ever happened to the powerline trail by the narrows brigde? I heard that it was a half-ass DH trail down to the tracks. Is there and truth to this? I've long since moved away but there used to be a trail on the otherside as well over by the Cottesmore Nursing home. Nothing to it but if it has just a few jumps built on the way down it would be a nice little DH/push.

You have my number anytime you want to meet for a tour of Dash Point State Park, just west of Federal Way. it's a nice little stretch of trails. More and more stuff is emerging near and in Lake Sawyer as well, plus they make maps of the place now!!! haha...
Also i have a good riding buddy who lived and maintains trails near the Green River Gorge, she's good people and i think you'd really like those trails.
Here's to hopin to get more rides out with ya soon.
