ever heard of unrealcycles dot com ??? not everybody out there that freerides or even dh's has rear suspension... *believe it or not*...thats why they make some burly hardtales, such as the 24 cycles Le Toy bikes in ex long... dc or tripc fork + xl frame + 24x3" tire = dh raked geometry... other frames that this works with Evil Imp, GSR Hooligan, Fetish HT, and supposedly the Brooklyn Park bike... I would never do it on a park bike though... at 190lbs in a 6' frame I would brake the headtube... which is why it only works with some frames that have the gusseting to handle the torque of long travel fork.... I thought you guys would know these things; I've only been riding dual suspension for 10 or so months doing the dh/freeride thing... before that I rode urban/trails/dirt jumps for 3 years... anyway

I personally ride a hardtail with a 6" fork and I love it pedal up the mountain and then flows down it,the perfect combo. 6" is as much fork as you can use on a hardtail if you ride it if you just fall down hills fine

I can see the frame being useful for smooth trails with big hucks with bad trannies where the rider can land hard, and sort of soften it out trials-style. A hardtail with a big fork would be good for this. It would also be okay if the rest of the trails were relatively smooth. The thing is, I don't know of any trails like that.
All the trails I know are either rough, meriting full suspension, or smooth w/ trannies and berms so you don't want the whack geometry (and the massive change in geometry as you blow through travel), and want a smaller fork and steeper geometry anyway. These riders must be on trails that I haven't seen. And their bikes must be super front heavy, and just FEEL fast.
But hey, everyone learns... that's life. And part of it is, so many people have to "figure it out for themselves," myself included.
2004? I didn't notice either! I thought it was funny that my buddy Judd started a thread in the PNW forum when he now lives in DC and posts there... I bet I remember the time that he saw those guys, I think I was riding with him!

A lot of the trails here in Korea are perfect for a hardtail rocking a big fork. Mostly smooth, with enough steep and chunky stuff thrown in to apreciate long-travel up front. Dualys are too big for most of the trail, and short travel in the front gets you hurt if you fly into a chundery section. hardtail makes the trail "feel" funner, too.

I'm on an Imp with a Shiver, and most of the guys I ride with here are on something similar. I've a dually as well, but it sees racedays only.

WELL ISN'T THIS A BLAST FROM THE PAST?

yeah well it's 2 years later and now they have forks that w/a flick go from under 4" (pedal up hill) up to more than 6" (flowing down the hill)...

and they even have 8" single crown forks for your ht, or what ever floats your boat...

If yer gonna post on the 'Monkey, we'd appreciate a little more clarity. I guess that's what they teach ya in skewl, eh?
What fork? Who wanted them? Are they located in the UK? If not, then why would they buy from the UK, as it's prices are always higher?
Help us help you!
