Hi....
long time since I post around here, to much work with business and making crazy motorcycle frames...

I have a question for you guys, aparentlly a dificult one since I check the net all over, I need a few (4 if not more) of the GT I-drive exentric bottom brackets shells (not the bearings but the aluminum B.B. shells) you know the cilindrical alumimum shape that is about 4" in diameter and features a exentric Bottom brackets treads on each side..

I don't really care about the condicion , since i need to remachine them for a motorcycle frame I'm making...

Any information will be apreciated, please post in this tread if you have the parts or have any idea were to find them.

thanks

Hey man! Haven't seen you around here in a while...

I'm curious to know where the BB shell is going in the motorcycle frame - that is of course if it isn't something top-secret.

Hmmmm... Anyone have some of these lying around? Help a brotha out!

No No secrets, who cares about secrets anyway, the more people have options and new ideas the better this world becomes.
I'm trying to make a set of Footpeg that can be adjust at diferent possitions depending on the riders needs..

I'm trying to make something like this (at the bottom of the drawing)

oviuslly If I find the I-drive parts, i will save a lot of time and work.

maybe this show it a little better, oviuslly this is a simplified version of the whole arrangement.

Damn, that's a really good idea.

I don't have any BBs, but I wish I did so I could say I helped with that idea in 10 years! Good luck!

Come on is not that complicated, the drawings are details of a rear shock mount and the possible linkages require (this are very old, I'm learning a bunch more about them this days)

here is a over all view.

If you want to see pretty for Pretty sake (well old school industrial designer pretty) take a look at this one. about 30 hours of work ussing layer upon layer of color to achive the grey scale but keeping the white of the paper for the light details.

Thanks amigo...

finding those pieces is a pain in the butt, i'm being asking on every GT dealer i know, but they all look at me like i was from venus (most be the ears) nobody have any spares, new, damage, whatever.

If I can not find them I will end up making something very similar, but is far more work than just adapting the parts.

Just lathe some up and get an eccentric to fit inside.

http://www.philwood.com/Price List/P16.pdf
sadlly Tandem shells are far to small in diameter (only about 1 1/8" of adjustment) and they don't provide sufficient range of adjustment

like you can see at the bottom of this picture, I used snowboard binder plates to make a concept Model.

But even if I find some of the old burton aluminum plates they will be far to weak (even if I put inserts into them) to sustain my body weight specially when I'm jumping.

the bike is soppose to end up doing stuff like this.

and sometimes doing the Old "PIgs can fly" trick

so everything need to be build super strong to be able to hold to the dutty.

Actually here is a concept drawing I made about seven years ago but i did not have a place to make it happend until now (bicycles are much better that way, moto's require a lot of space.)

i must say, i am always extremely impressed with your drawings. very cool idea, good luck with it!
Thanks amigo....

Is never to late to start, so get a pen and paper and try to put your ideas on it, sonner or later you will see dramatic improvements in your skill, specially if you pay attencion to the way the real world looks like.

for example this is a super simple trick that make drawing diferent alternatives really easy.

In this case I took a picture of the frame i'm making and then "wash it out" on the computer and printed many copies, now i can just connect the dots, very easy but making structures to scale is pretty dificult and sometimes gets people frustrated.

this way maybe you can find a bike frame or what ever you like the most, used some "tracing" paper and make your own version, that way you will gain confidence and skill having fun at the same time..

Thanks Howse I'm in no hurry, I much rather let you do the deal your self, I need at least four units (the big aluminum shells) but if you guy have the bearings and bushing for cheap I may take them too, also will be great if you guys have the suspension linkage rods, (dog bone) since I can also used them...

Again if you can used, obsolete parts will be best since this is just a project were i need a miilion diferent parts.

everytime I empty my PM box get full in about ten second, so may as well post what you find here and then we talk on the phone so I can send you the money for the parts

thanks again, you don't know how much this helps me

Ok, here's the deal, we (the shop) can part with them for $25 each....There are looks like 9 here. Lemme know what all parts you need (bearings and stuff of the likes) and if you want dog bones, how many, and of what length approx, because we have a bunch of them too, though not all the same side. If it makes it easier, send me an e-mail mikehowse.com@gmail.com.

you can e-mail me at acadian @ pinkbike.com

I live in Milpitas, CA - from 680 I'm right off 237/Calaveras.

let me double check what I have when I get home tonight and will take pics of all the bits...I got a crap load! Then you can let me know if there is anything in there you would be interested in. I'm 97% sure I got at least one full eccentric (e.g. cups, bearings and BB shell)

You know, I didn’t even know about the fire last week until I went for a road ride up Calaveras and saw that there was a major fire up there..it was at the top of Calaveras - so it wasn't close to my house.

But like 2 months ago there was one super close by (near Ed Levine park), which scared the hell out of me! that was was too close for comfort! And now I have an utterly respect for firefighters – it was like 90 degrees and they were fully dressed in those suits and battled the blazed for hours until the fire was contained. Crazy! Also took like 2 helicopters and a few planes to help fight the fire…

just replied to your e-mail.
