yesterday alejandro inostroza, known around these parts as troxel, passed away victim of senseless street violence while sessioning at his favorite spot with other two friends, he struggled against fatal head trauma for a week, just like he had before fought against preconceptions about cycling and been an central part in the birth of the first and biggest urban riding scene in south america.

respect to you wherever you are.

That's horrible news. I am so sorry. Please tell his family that the international riding community is mourning his loss.

I know it's really soon and I might be getting ahead of myself but have you thought about holding an urban contest/jam in his name? Something to carry on his legacy of pioneering street MTB riding in Chile?

edit: another thought. maybe setup a paypal account for donations for his family if needed. I have no idea of there financial status but I know a lot of us might feel better if there was a tangible way we could help, something other than just putting out good vibes.

troxel was put in the coffin wearing a 26mtb.cl t-shirt and a blue jockey. his bike stood about 1m away from the coffin and was covered with flowers.
the funeral is tomorrow.

the wake was held yesterday. Troxel was dressed just like he would on a common day... 26mtb.cl t-shirt and a blue jockey.
his bike stood next to him and was all covered with flowers.
bikers, friends and family, we all met in "plaza pedro de valdivia" (the place were it all happened) at 22:00 (gmt-4)to light candles all arround the place, and have some fun in alejandro's name.

the funeral is today at 12:00 (gmt-4).
after the mass, we'll have our last street ride with alejandro ad we escort him to the cementery.

It's horrible what happened, but it also awesome that you guys were able to celebrate his life this way by doing something that he loved. I hope that when the time comes that I would be so lucky.

So very sad to hear this. I always liked seeing the footage and hearing the southern riding updates from Troxel on hcor.

RIP. I hope he's enjoying the riding up above and hitting all the spots with Jeremy.

This senselesness makes me sick. Alejandro was always very nice to me when I lived in Santiago. There is no forgetting, as Neruda said:

No Hay Olvido (Sonata)
Si me preguntais en donde he estado
debo decir 'Sucede'.

He aqui violetas, golondrinas,

Deepest condolences to his friends and family. He will surely be missed by all, even those of us that don't know him personally. The world was a better place because of him, no doubt.

Peace,
