Just milliseconds after this shot Jeff's pedal hit a rock and kicked his rear wheel sideways. It hit me straight in the face. I didn't even have time to get my hands up in defense. All I remember was seeing the brake rotor.

All told it was 30 stiches with some inside as well.

I don't think the rotor is what hit me. I think it was the frame/alxe area. I figured the camera was toast, but it was low enough that it just got knocked from my hands. At first I thought the camera hit me in the face, but it was the bike.

Yeah, I made them take a picture of it to make sure the camera worked. I also had the doc take a picture of it after he cleaned it and had it gapped open. It was cool. You could see my nasal bone and this small artery that didn't get damaged.

Just a few months ago i was off the trail taking a few shots. Didn't know i was standing right on a hornets nest. They hit me twice on the ankle and next to the achilles. i brushed two off and started high steppin and yelling and swearin. The gal rider was like wtf? i just told her to keep riding, get the **** outta here haha.

guy I know who owns a bike rental shop at Myrtle Beach is being sued by a girl who stuck her fingers in the chain to "stop" it. It took one off and had to be re-attached. :brow:

Doug - for when you're takin' pictures - Full Face bro... I'm tellin' ya...:)

Glad to know you still have sight in both eyes - that came really close to taking one out.

Jeez man, back up some more and bust out the telephoto lens... or go remote.

Heal up soon.

Sven - holy crap that rules.

I was gonna say, flashes usually take the brunt of MTB photo accidents. Good luck with the nose profro. Be glad you weren't shooting 15 fish when it happenned! Death lens, indeed.

Bummer man, heal up quick! Couldn't have happened at a better time as far as the racing season goes, though.
If you know me at all, this won't slow me down. However I got some serious good fortune with a friend on this one since I currently don't have insurance. I am going to keep it on downlow until it heals up just a bit more. I can't waltz back into the doc and ask for his kindness a second time.
