I wouldn't hold your breath on 83mm XTs. Making XTs in that size would effectively "endorse" using them for DH which is not something Shimano wants to do from a liability/warranty standpoint. 83mm Hones would be more likely.

Well seeing as every part you have you alter in some way. Taking a crown off a fork, grinding down dropouts, and so on. I bet it really sucks to be as smooth as you. Never having to buy new things must really suck.

you just put on the 6 cogs you wanna run and use spacers. no mod to the shifter

Or you can buy a singlespeed hub and put on 5 cogs so you get a wider shell, you don't have to mod the shifter/derailleur at all, just set your limits on the derailleur and you're good to go.

Its cool to see how diverse people spec thier bikes.
some want to cut weight out as much as possible, some want the latest and greatest while other stay with tried and true.

it really shows how personal a bike can be. no offence but I know that some of the bikes/parts posted here I would never beable to ride and be happy with. and maby some of you would never like my spec. but the point is that building a bike from frame up or modifying a production spec like I have gives the unique oppertunity to make a bike truly yours.

I guess this is what some mean when they say a bike can have a soul.

i raced all rentals in my first year of riding and racing DH bikes. Podiumed in 5 out of 6 Races including 3rd at the National Championships! haha i rode 2 Kona stinky's, a Demo9, an azonic steelhead, and for Championships i rode a 2001 Foes DHS Mono with a 2001 Monster T ! haha 53 pounds of Orange madness ! haha
