So this past weekend I put together a small underground urban DH race right here in Boston on Mission Hill. I always thought itd be cool to hold a race here but itd be damn near impossible to get permission, so I figured why not just do it all fast n the furiouse style and race in the middle of the night!
We had 13 riders race, single timed runs. We had shuttle trucks, number plates, and a cash purse (take that norba).
Heres a video Justin put together, unfortunantly it was a bit tough to really capture the course. It wasnt too much to watch but was super fun!

how come you didn't take the back trail from parker hill down towards that really steep area near calumet? what did your "trail" actually look like?

i used to live on calumet, now in southie (flat).

I shoot on a Sony HVR-Z1U HD camera, that footage is downconverted for editing cause I havent upgraded to FCP 5 yet. It was pretty much the worse conditions to try and film since a good portion of the course was in the dark, but oh well.

Yo Dave whats goin on dude?! Piper and I have been talking about making a two-event underground race in the spring with another slalom event at Hell Track and a midnight DH race on Mission Hill.

I love the fact that spontanious racing is popping up. Jeff Kuhn woth Brodie bikes has been putting races on up at Mingus Mtn in Prescott, AZ. Prizes and BBQ

the finish was actually down a ways from the stop light. There were a couple gas pumps you had to whip through, then a sweet ass handicap kicker stepdown to the finish line. That was a bit of a mistake though as it was a hell of a long sprint!
Course will be more apropriate next time, i didnt think it was going to be that long as was and was just trying to get a long enough run it.
Biggst problem was people learning the course, it was tough to mark. Ive got some tricks up my sleeve for next time!

thats freaking awesome I love it!!! I always thought i was the only nut case riding through intersections at full speed I don't feel as singled out anymore :D

i actually put my girlfriend at the intersection with a flashlight to wave around if there were any cars coming ahahah
