Dammit. There's a kickass synth on there right now, with two of the output jacks broken and the AC power jack broken. I'm all like sweet, I can score this thing, fix it, and double my money.

Except there are a bunch of idiots bidding it through the roof. Hey assholes, it's broken! I hate everyone. :banghead:

Yeah I hate when that happens. But I guess that's a chance you take when using eBay. There are going to be people with indisposable budgets just buying things up. A holes.

Craig's List rocks. If you can find what you're looking for it'll be half the cost of eBay if not practically free.

on ebay, I sold a 2 or so year old bike light for more than I paid and more than then a new one cost.
Exactly, people just get addicted to "bidding" and go nuts. I see people pay more money for used stuff than it would cost them to buy new in some cases. E-bay is fairly annoying these days.

Yeah I definitely understand how ebay causes people to spend stupid money on stuff... I was just hoping that this synth was obscure enough that people wouldn't notice what a kickass deal it was. Ah well. Maybe I'll get lucky and the dumbasses bidding on it now will go away by the time it ends.

Who the heck has ever heard of these things?

Towing the party line.
You have to remember with some products, especially bike stuff, it is cheaper for someone in places such as the UK to get your 1 year old DH bike used at the same price you paid, rather than pay for it new in the UK. Bikes prices can be inflated by as much as 50% there. So your $2000 bike used, would cost them $4500. In that case, everyone wins.

Are you kidding? Look at all the knobs and sliders and sh1t! A synth like that is total nerd bait. Our bass player drools over crap like that. (he plays a Moog, some other strange stuff, etc)

BTW - I bet that thing goes over $300 easily.
Easy. Nord is up there with Moog, Farfisa, Prophet, old Roland stuff. Lots of classic synth people are electronics tweekers / hackers. A few busted output connections, and a bad power supply are child's play to fix.

If it was a busted up Casio then yeah, it would be silly. (unless it was once played by Wesley Willis then all bets are off.)

Yeah if it was fixed it should fetch about a grand, I was hoping (apprently beyond hope) that I could score it for about $250.
Last year I lost the auction on a used Trick aluminum snare drum that ended up closing for about $200 over what you could order a new one for.

i once found a pretty rare Billy Childish-related record sorta by happenstance, and it had a typo in the auction listing so searching via the usual terms wouldn't have shown it.

some high-bidding bastard found it anyway. :bonk: :banghead:
