Why don't we just call them "Fun" bikes. I pulled this over from surfing. Fun boards are a bit of a hybrid for people who want some of the features of a longboard for smaller days and at the same time a board that they can take in heavier surf.

That is what my Brocket is for me. It is just plain fun.:happydance:

slopestyle bikes are really made for people who live in areas without real mountains, like texas... because who the hell wants to pedall a 40lbs dh bike up and down a 200 foot hill?

uh, no. they are made for people who want to ride in bike parks with lifts, also known as slopes. they are intended for riding where large rock gardens and extra rough terrain don't exist, so 9" of travel and tall BB height don't matter. y'all who complain about slopestyle bikes are have your heads up your @$$. it is a viable product with an existing market. if you don't like it, don't buy it.

Like the name or not... It's all just bitching about semantics.

That bike looks like mega-fun to ride. I can't see anything mattering other than that. I see that bike, and it inspires visions of some spots I know that would be deadly to pilot that thing through, over, and around.

As much fun as these new bikes are, I cannot understand how they are 'new' other than the marketing spray the bike companies have gotten everyone on MTBR, PB, and RM to buy into. I have been riding a 33-lb 2003 Foes FXR with a low BB, chainguide, 6" fork, and nearly 6" rear travel for 4 seasons now. 'Maybe' the new bikes are a tad bit lower slung, but that just means I can ride my bike to the top of the runs easier. I just don't understand how any of this is new...

p.s. the new Intense does look like fun though...
