Living the dream.
My 3 shot YIR:

Started with riding last winter on Cape Cod with Berkshire_Rider, Splat and the gang (Donny jumping, Otis MA, 1/28):

Fell in with a really bad crowd and found myself working as a wheelman for an escape to the Vermont hideout (Monkeyfest part 1, Kingdom Trails):

Come November and I'm still tangled up with these guys, doing my best to keep up (Vietnam, Milford MA, 11/04):

It's been one heck of a ride, looking forward to more fun in '07

I had a great MTB year. I rode more this year than ever before. Some highlights in no particular order:

I rode KT twice. The first time was in late August with MBC, splat and wife, and two of MBC's cousins. The 2nd time was Monkeyfest Part Deux. This pic is from the prior:

This is me and Treesaw after a night lap at the Churn and Burn 24 hour race in Ashford, CT. The clock actually indicates it's 1:12 AM. Treesaw kicked ass, as did teams 4MAAB and HOH.

We finally checked out Pedro's festival. We were only there for one day, but it was enough to convice us to stay longer next year. Here is MBC putting a demo bike to good use (She ended up buying one of these).

Hey, splat was involved in all three of my highlights. How did THAT happen!?

For me, 2006 was all about racing, new bikes, discovering the sick and twisted fun of singlespeeding and spending time with the lovely MizN8!

It may take more than three, but less than seven...

The year started off with warm temperatures here and super-dry conditions. Where were those April showers? Don tries to seed the clouds....

In March, I went to the Masters Tournament down in Augusta with my Dad, my best friend and my brother. Lots of green everywhere...

Found out my wife was this:

Used this to cope with it:

Got a handle on it and bought this:

OK...highlights (not sure if i have a photo to represent it all...but we'll see what we can see)

By far one of the greatest moments came this year in the form of my first EVER photo published in a magazine...and it happened to be Dirtrag...

that got me on these d*mn bike sites and meet so many of you wonderful monkeys...some for just fun banter and others i consider friends...

and so "graphics" emerges...

reminded myself why i owned a "bike" to begin with...

began the process of divorce...moved out and into the house...

started and continued school...(no pic for that)

and just hopin that next year will be the start of some great things to come.

hmm, lets see, i don't think i can do it in 3 pics but i'll try my best to keep it short.
the year started with an urban session

i got a new dh rig

the boy got a new bike too....and crashed a lot

then my truck caught on fire

i raced a lot of DH this year and the boy did too. i took a dare and raced XC on the dh rig at the helen fat tire fest....will never attempt that again

we discovered the joy of skateparks

and the joy of re-discovering a re-juvenated riding spot

oh yeah, and i bought my first house! :D

...hope that wasn't too long, but it's been a good year ;)

Lets see here

Racing up at beacon in may...

Then it started going downhill

Casing a step up on moscow mtn. Iv hit it atleast 40 times but this one was the worst by far.

And we will roll to last night getting knocked by an f250 that ran a stop sign and found my rear quarter panel.

All in all besides a few broken bones and people hitting my truck it was a fun year.

After about 5 years off from riding, I got one of these...Shot in Adk. Park.

Then I wanted to start riding like they do in the videos, so I got one of these...

Shortly thereafter, I got some of this...Shoulder surgery

I was feeling down about the above noted photo, so I went here...Monkey Fest II

Though it had its ups and downs, it was actually one of my better summers in a long time. Can't wait to do it again next year, minus the surgery though.

Post 'em up... but only 3 pix per monkey or something like that.

:)

I can keep it to three pix because the blanks are more interesting than what can fill them.

I traveled a little in the Spring, met some ew friends and hung out with some old ones:

I rode quite a few places I had not before in CA. It's not too bad out here:

The best part? Combining the two:

January
Got my first real job working at a transition shop across the street from my house cleaning up
Got my first camera a Kodak z7590
Put my first serious thoughts into down hill biking

February
Met some dhers from NJ and started talking to them

April
My first xc race, The Running of the Dogs. Beginning of the day was rainy and about 38 degrees; I was in shorts and a long sleeved t-shirt. It was a timed race my class had 2 hours to do as many 5-mile laps as possible. Half way into the second lap the snow started and I froze my balls off. I wound up coming in second place because everyone but 3 people dropped out. I then realized I have become a real mountain biker.
I did some more xc riding and met up with some more people.

May
Diablo opened and I met some people who I had only chatted online with, we are really good friends now. I tried getting my mom to let me ride dh for most of the month with little success. The US open came and it was my first time taking photos of biking. I also was able to show my mom dh wasn’t so dangerous.

June
My first time riding Diablo was now. I dished out more trucks of bull**** then I can even remember to have her sign the waver. I told her I was only going to ride the xc trails. That lasted all of 3 minutes and I realized I had found my calling. That calling was dh.

July
I took photos of the second domination race and I gave them to the riders. I realized I might have a future in photography. I also won a Boxxer Team in a raffle at Diablo. On a non-biking note, I had found out I was accepted to my counties Technical School. That is one of the highlights of my year. I major in engineering, which I plan on going into collage for. The big willow tree that is over 100 years old and is next to my house got struck by lightning, I don’t think I have ever heard or smelt something like that before. It was almost like fire works going off in my face. Luckily the tree didn’t need to be cut down, yet it is coming down in pieces. My family will decide in the spring if it needs to be cut down.

August
I started my photo gig called Pink Shirt Photos. It is popular at Diablo because I am one of the only photographers on the mountain. I also was one of few people to cover the third domination race, which were monsoon conditions. I took photos from under a tarp. That helped me stay somewhat dry. I finally got a better bike, well almost a better bike. I bought an azonic evo 2 frame for $50 and put all my xc parts from my old bike onto it. It sucked not riding a giant but it was better then a 19inch xc frame. I also attended my county fair with my goats, were I won Jr. Champion with the one goat I entered. Then I was off to the Nascar race at Watkins Glenn. First night was the Rolex cars then the bush ran on Saturday and on Sunday was the Nextel cup race. I’ve been going up for the last few years with my dad it’s always a lot of fun.

September
I continued with pink shirt photos and more people started asking for photos. I also met a lot more people who I talk to on a regular basis. I took a weekend trip to the shore and went to a clown festival on a boardwalk. I also started school and made a bunch of new friends.

October
Pink shirt photos was going all out. Shawn who runs Diablo was noticing me, and he had started to like my work. I started taking more dirt jump photos, which I am still terrible at and I also started taking some nighttime photos. I also did some flower photos too. I turned 16 and got my first car, my dads’ 2000 vw jetta vr6 5 speed. And also got my permit. The DH lift assisted season ended at Diablo.

November
I bought my first real DH bike, a used 2006 Iron Horse Sunday WC up at P-kill. I got a good deal on it and its an awesome bike I feel I deserve from my year on a ghetto rigged azonic. I didn’t take many photos due to the lack of people doing interesting things

December
I started taking photos of snow boarders at Mountain Creek. I know a lot of riders over there from the biking season. I don’t ski or board but I do enjoy hanging out on the slopes with my camera. I also met my girl friend Katie and we are still together. There wasn’t even one technical snowfall this month in NJ which depending on who you ask is good. For Christmas I got a Nikon D40 and an extra lens. So I’m thinking the 2007 season is going to be even better then this year.

This year I feel was the best year of my life so far. I have overcome many goals that would take up more time then most are willing to spend reading useless responses. If anyone is ever out at Diablo during the 07 season shoot me a pm and I’ll take some photo runs with you.

thanks to whoever read that whole thing. :monkeydance:

That story was awesome. Glad to see you joined the DH crowd. If I'm ever up at Diablo (which I hope to be next year), if you shootin pictures and you get a good one of me, I'll buy it off you. Happy New Year.

Bought one of these, the first roadie I've owned since 1989.

I also raced the Churn & Burn 24-hour w/ Baboon, Splat, Treesaw, MMcG, etc...

Spent lots of time with our family... :)
