Who's up for it?

I've been trying to do a few centuries each month, ever since getting back on the road. So far since July I've done a Century ride on the 1st day of the month.

how long does it take for you to do a century?
5-6 hours at where I'm at right now, earlier in the year it was 6-7.

I'm doing it on the road with my road bike, if you can figure out how to pull it off, you can use a mtb to do it. Been doing the century stuff because I plan on doing a cross the US ride in the near future, so I'm starting to pile on the miles in training.

Do one of you guys mind informing me what a century is? I am guessing it is riding 100 miles. I did a search, but came up with nothing. Thanks.

I need atleast 8/9 hours for it to be fun (I like to stop and have lunch a little after midpoint). Even then it's still not much fun. I think I will bag on that once a month deal and stick to bi yearly schedule I am currently on....

I did maybe 6 century rides last year. I plan on a whole lot more this year as I had to do all of those on my MTB solo and I now have a road bike to help pick up the pace a bit.

I probably do 12 a year but one each month? No way. 6 hours on the road bike in January/February is a suicide mission. One of my goals this year is to do a double and/or a ride with 20,000 feet of climbing. My normal century routes are close to 10,000 of climbing so the double my hit both marks.

It is tough to Do. In my Road Club we have a Guy who has done a century for the last 165 months , and he's 71 years old.

RIP , what Bike are you doing centuries on ?

well In my road club , besides Keepinmg a Tally of Miles year to date , we also Keep track of Months with a Metric Century ( I have 6 ) , a regular century ( I have 1 ) and 1000 Mile Months. ( I have never Made that )

Metric centuries? I can't even count the number of 60 mile rides I've done. (I never thought to.)

1,000 miles in a month is pretty hard for someone who works for a living - I'm trying to hit 3,000 miles for the year.

Good goal. It might get me back out on the road. (dusts off road bike)

I don't know about centuries in January, but it might happen.

I removed all the computers from my bikes years ago in an effort to stop training and have fun. It worked. I guess my centuries will have to be pre-determined.

Hopefully most of them will be offroad come summer.
