Azonic Outlaws?

Ok, heres the story. Right now I have an Ironhorse Yakuza Kumicho with the floating brake. All the floater does is cause me trouble, it flexes and is extrememly loud and annoying. I would've gotten rid of it a long time ago, but I need a 12x150mm hub, and I havent had the money. I was looking around and found the Azonic Outlaws. I can get a full wheelset for 275. The single wheel was cheaper. Here are my questions. Is the outlaw a strong wheel, and will it hold up? Right now I have the Mavic's that came stock. I try to be as smooth as possible, but I have destroyed a few wheels before. Also, is there going to be a noticable difference in the brakejack once I get rid of the floater? Finally, should I just buy the one wheel, or should I go for both just for the heck of having white wheels to match my frame. :imstupid: :busted:

YES, white wheels.

The Azonics have held up for me for 2 seasons of resort riding. Get em.

Do a search. The Azonics have been talked about a lot. Lots of people like em.

Yep you will get some BJ when you take the floater off. You will just have to learn to ride with it or not. Most people that ride SP bikes ether don't mind it or run the floater. When running the floater you will just have to put up with the noise.

PS. I love my Outlaws. I have not had to touch ether pair in a season and a half.

Good luck.

I bought a set of Outlaws intending to use them as temporaory wheels while I saved up to buy an expensive set but left them on all season. They are relatively light and strong. They bend easier than the Mavics but they tend to bend, not crack and in most cases you can bend them back. I had no issues with the bearings and the ratchet held up fine. I liked them so much, I bought a pair of white ones for this season.

I ran outlaws on my dh bike all season, mainly cause of their low price. Bashed them all season long, even rode a front flat for half of a particularly high speed and nasty course, yet they held up. Have trued them twice, as that's all they've needed to date. Not only will I be running them again in '07, but I have talked my entire team into running them after all shelled out $400+ on wheelsets for their '06 season campaigns. For tight budget racers, these wheels can't be beat!!!

I got about 2 seasons out of mine before the rear hub disintegrated. I am still running the front wheel but the hub has some play in it and I don't believe that's something that can be fixed (please correct me if I'm wrong because it's driving me nuts).

The rims held up well. I'd consider buying them again.

I bought a set just as a temp as well, first on my DJ then on my DH. Still sitting on my DH rig. I've had to true them once after a sideways landing at the skatepark, that's been it. I'm buying another set for sure.

The outlaws are a good wheelset but I wouldn't get the white. I saw them at interbike and I don't know if they were pre production or what but but the white finish doesn't seem to be as durable as the black. The ones I handled were all marred and scuffed up. The black ones seemed fine.
