Referring to Ruben helping them out? It's my understanding (albeit a interweb acquired one) that Ruben is one of the best guys on two wheels. From sessioning NS-style trails in Whistler to having to come clean to some pros that met when he was young that he was only "copying" their steez because he was a yokel had never seen bikes ridden that way. Seems like a humble, hard-riding and open-minded guy.

That being said, if you are juxtasposing him with the rest of the "20-inch dicks," I would warn you against making generalizations. Are skilled and knowldgeable BMXers intimidating to a rider of lesser skill and experience(regardless of wheelsize)? Undoubtedly, the answer is yes. Be humble, respect those in the know, and get educated. I guarantee that you won't have any trouble fitting in with anyone who loves to pedal around.

sorry i'm gonna have to call you on this too. Ruben has been one of my favorite riders for a few years now for both personality and his style. if you've meet guys riding 20's that were diks, do you really think they would suddenly become nice when they started riding bigger wheeled bikes? i've meet plenty of 2-6 riders that are plain a$$holes, as well as 20 riders. its the person not the bike.

I don't think he was refering to Ruben being a d*%k. I also don't think he was saying all 20" riders are punks and all big wheel riders are nice. I think he was just refering to some bmx'ers being closed minded about big wheel bikes. I have riden with quite a few 20" guys and all of them are cool with me but there are a couple that give you that look like you don't belong at the park or where ever. Fudger from Ride BMX is a prime example. He's dissed the big wheel guys more than once in the letters section of the magazine saying mtn. bikes need to stay in the mountains and not at the skatepark or dirt jumps and said they just look stupid trying to ride a park. I can see what Larson is trying to say. I aggree that wheel size has nothing to do with character.

In the lates Ride, Fudger gave a new felt crammer frame to a mountain biker that wrote in. He said it was the last letter from a mountain biker he'd ever publish.

When you are the best rider on earth then I'm sure you really don't worry about what anyone else rides. Didn't Match have some pics of Ruben riding freeride trails in BC this summer on a full sussy rig?

Ruben seems to float... the air he pulled over that street gap was immense.. and flat out intense.

about 90% of bmxer's in general are very ignorent when it comes to ANYTHING bigger than 20". I see it all the time at in the street/park/track.

That, sir, is bullsh!t. Most bmxers respect anyone who can throw it down on 2 wheels... regardless of size. If you're getting some hate... it must be you, not the bike you ride.
