does anybody NOT like 5.10's?

I don't like them. I have the old Intense branded 510's. They were not designed as a bike shoe, but as a climbing approach shoe. Too grippy. Can't rotate or slide your foot with them. Too stiff. They have a really dead feel at the pedals. They are also uncomfortable to walk in.

I like thin, soft skate shoes. I have used vans rowleys for a while, but recently have been rocking duffs gamblers. On my third pair. I like to be able to feel the pedal.

I also like different pedals than most dh riders. I like concave, knurled pedals with short pins. Concave is key for pedal feel.

I have no problems with losing my pedals. It's called bending your knees and pumping. Ride your bike, don't just hold on.

Nope.
Someone said march in this thread.. starting to sound like vapourwear :-)p) to me. I was keen on waiting for the new ones too just because they looked sweet, but if they aren't out somewhere in the next two months i'll have to get the old ones.

IMO the old ones are a bit heavy, hold water easily, and dont dry quickly...The new black low tops look alot more weatherproof...Snowshoe can beat up a pair of shoes quick...The rennie high tops are pretty cool i think id rock them in some situations but some they might get annoying...

I just don't know why they have to be so ugly. There is a just little too much hiking boot in their styling for me.

Hmmm that sounds interesting, has anyone tried that before? I've heard of Nikwax being used in jackets/pants does it work with porus materials like the 5 10 tops?
Nikwax makes a specific shoe product that does work. It doesn't make them waterproof, but it helps.
You guys are talking about their spray that works with textiles and pretty desent on leathers too, but I'm talking about their grease/wax that is for leather hiking boots etc.

My Rockport hiking boots are of nubuk, and if I wanted to keep their finish I could only use the water repelant spray. Since it wasn't working satisfactory under harsh conditions, I took to the grease/wax instead. Try it!

The only bad things Ive heard anyone say, I forget the site but one guy was saying he planted his foot in a crash, and because of the sticky rubber his foot planted and didnt move and his body twisted around it, injuring his knee or ankle or something. He wasnt sure if that was the reason, but that was his idea of what happened.

Not really sure that is a very good reason not to wear them, Ive ridden flats and 5.10s and they are a really fun combo. I still perfer clips personally, but it can be a fun setup.
That happened to me too; F'd my crusiate and was away from dh many long time.. But sticky shoes wasn't the issue for me. I had all the weight on that foot to prevent a crash and while pushing off and going forward fast the leg couldn't do anything but turn in the moving direction.

Oh really??
I see tons of people running goofy pedals. I'd say the majority of pedals designed for DH bikes are horrendous: completely flat, no knurling, excessive pins:

the tbc's are alright the 50/50's are a nightmare...

Tioga MX's paired with the 5 10's are like glue, my favorite setup for dh...

I guess i am odd but i like totally different pedals for street/dj than i do for dh these wide flats like above are my pedal of choice for dh but something like an Eastern BMX is my favorite for the street bike...

Thats not odd. Im the same way. I run wide platform, concave flats for DH. But for street I really cany deal with anything big. Wellgo MG1 is my pick for street.

the TBC pedals are concave slightly front to back, and the kore ones effectively are with the raised outer edge, i have the TBC and they are pretty nice, had A-frames but not as good, the kona's are nice though.

I Don't think I will blame my 5-10'S for this, But this probably could not have happened clipped in. I usaully run Clipped in, perphaps my inexperience with 5-10's is the reason

Fontana #4, sharp right corner at lower rock garden. I was fully committed to my line, but not see any trouble. My right foot grips the inside flat rock, my foot is rotated clockwise. I heard the bones snap while my hands were still on the bars. It was a spiral break of the tibia. Required 5 screws and 1 PLATE.

5-10'S GRIP REALLY REALLY GOOD. i MIGHT SAY THEY GRIP ROCK BETTER THAT PEDALS, But you all can decide for yourself.

I went on ebay and then went to the trail head cycles store (located in oregon) then offered them 60, then they declined then made some more offers and ended getting them for 85 shipped.

price point has them for 85, beyond sh*t has them for 81 and thats all the places I know of that carry the high impacts for that cheap
